so I decided to upgrade my home line this morning and after being on hold for 30 min I finally got through to someone who gave me my new login details and said someone will call me in 24 hours to have my line upgraded. Got the call 8min later and by the time I put the phone the phone down I had a constant 9mb downstream...

Not to often that telkom makes my day:D

OMG that is super awesome, tellme what option did you choose.

First thing when you dial 10210 is they ask if you calling from the line the problem blah and you hit 1 then input your tel number, what option did you choose thereafter :D?

They apparently upgrading the exchange here finally in Kwadukuza and my line was down for 2 days however since it came back this morning , no change in speed except that i am down 5kbps upload so syncing at 507kbps (the bastards lol) but i want more speed so badly :).

Line-speed adjustments are done remotely.

It's getting the line installed in the first place that's the bitch; not to mention getting it sorted if something ends up going wrong with it.

The option that has to with new services and checking the status of new orders, you go through something stupid like 10 to get to someone moaning that his Internet in down, he then put me through to some online department(I think that's what they call themselfs). You can also try ordering through the DO website but please note that they force you to buy a router there, they also give a big total(which includes more services we don't want to pay for to get Internet access) and a small total which is only for the line and data.

Must say its the luck of the draw, when I had the second line put in 4 years ago three thechies went AWOL before the installation was done.
