10.6.3 on Hackintosh's (Post your results)

I used the install method as outlined here http://basshead.wordpress.com/2010/04/04/snow-leopard-on-acer-aspire-one-aoa150zg5/ with my Install DVD (on a 16gb thumb drive)

Excuse me while I first investigate sleepenabler! :)

I'd love to be able to get the built in wireless to work.

Thanks - I've just tried the method as outlined and no luck I'm afraid. I've got a DLink dongle working in the meantime which seems to work. There may even be a suitable card in one of the retired powerbook/ibooks/macbooks lying around.

Not sure what chipset is in the Atheros card.
 
You have retired Macbooks? Their Airport card should work. Or most notebook wifi cards made by Broadcom, like Dell models.
 
Well the update broke something since I can't get it to boot. I see I'm supposed to install mach_kernel_atom_10.4.0 but how to do that . . .

lol, yeah this is why I'd stick to hackintosh as a hobby, not for serious work.

Move it too your root directory and rename it to mach_kernel. You can use the terminal to do it, I can give you the commands if you want.

Kinda tricky since you can't actually boot it, you can maybe take out the hard drive and use it via usb, or else boot from a USB stick.

I'd appreciate the help.

First off - How do I start the terminal if it won't boot?

EDIT: I'm reinstalling the OS and will try again from there.

Edit2: ok so reinstalling 10.6 then patching the kernel, then updating to 10.6.4 didnt work either . .

That should work, I don't get it. What you must do is reinstall 10.6, run terminal, then update to 10.6.4, then when it's done updating, patch the kernel and reboot.

You can't run terminal once the update process has started, so make sure it's running before you update.
