10 Billion apps downloaded from Apple app store

Wow! Any idea how many off of Android and Blackberry?

Apple said it would give the 10 billionth person to download an app a $10,000 gift card to its iTunes store, which now offers movies and TV shows along with digital music files. The prize went to Gail Davis of Orpington, Kent, in the U.K. She downloaded a free game app called Paper Glider. Orpington, Kent, in the U.K. She downloaded a free game app called Paper Glider.

Nice prize, nice gesture.

Billionth? Billionth?

Apple is evil! Evil! Really. I don't think there is a more evil company than Apple.

Like seriously now - a good marketing ploy to get people to either purchase apps... Evil company indeed the next monopoly company out their and lawsuits left right and centre and congratulations to the 10th billion person :)

Yeah, 'cos at 10 Billion apps downloaded already what Apple really needs NOW is a marketing ploy..??

I'm always amused at people who go on and on about Apple being an "evil" company... They make hardware and software that a huge number of people, including me, just love.

I must have missed the memo where their business plan started including polluting the world with oil spills or doing deals to desecrate the Arctic to look for more oil or starting wars to sell the weapons they make in order to secure more oil rights for their own oil subsidiaries or turning huge profits by exploiting the poorest of the poor and stealing the mineral wealth of third world countries or, or, or.... Get a grip... You don't like 'em, well sorry for you.

PS. That 10 Billion is for App Store apps... It doesn't include music, movies, TV shows or books... That's impressive!

Do they allow you to re-download apps for re-install? If so is that also counted. Haven't read the article yet, but downloaded and sold is 2 different things.

I'm sure 60 to 70% of the downloads must have been for free apps though

I always find it amusing how this type of conversation keeps coming up.
