Don't get me started on so called "high quality" Microwaves and why it's necessary to have everything adjusted and programmed with loads of taps and beeps on a moerse overcomplicated keypad and LCD screen when those old knobs you could turn does everything with one simple action.

And this my friends is exactly why the marketing hype on any of these fancy gadgets is just that, marketing.

Reminds me of this past Holiday:

I buy a smart pet feeder, thing's got battery backup, camera, intercom, night vision, the whole 9 yards... Techno Brilliance.
Test it for a week before going on holiday, works great. I set it up with a 50/50 schedule where the cats are fed automatically but sometimes I want to check in and chat/feed them myself.

I go on Holiday, assured I did my homework, spent the money and I'm good, one day into remote relaxation next to the Vaal River the camera system and remote feeding firmware crashes. Can't access the damn thing at all.

So now I have to use my remote 360 Degree camera in the kitchen to see if the feeder auto schedule is at least kicking in... wait, my Home Assistant can't see the camera anymore... I find out Ezviz dropped a firmware update on my cameras that disables the RTSP protocol completely, the main f**ing reason I bought the cameras in the first place. Luckily the thing still worked in spy mode and I could see it remotely using the official Chinese Ezviz crapware on my phone.

So now: I need to hack my way into the cameras and restore old firmware and hope RTSP can come back (or just let that dream go). I also need to buy a smart plug to hook the pet feeder up to so I can remotely reset the power if the firmware crashes again. And right this week I had an issue where one of my smart plugs on the refrigerator was acting up and needed to be unplugged and plugged back in... so what? I need a smart plug for my smart plug for my pet feeder?

I will say this again: The future is stupid.
And if that triggers you, I'll meet you half way: The future is dumber than we expect.

As a cat owner the first thing that stands out to me is that typical sound of cat claws on a fresh new piece of abandoned carton box somewhere in your house (we all know and recognise this). I cannot imagine how much fun Mr. Cat is going to have when he sharpens his claws on those fancy new dome speakers, with that nice passively amplified grrr-grrr feedback.

Lekker man.

all this tech and not one Humanoid robot that can walk around doing schit for you.
or I forgot it walks like it took a dump in that smart litter-box.

also nothing there screams Future to me, its all just Smart this and AI that, nothing there that would make me sit up and say, the future is now.
and I'm a Millennial, I grew up expecting Flying cars and Robots, not small improvements to things we had for decades.
