10 gadgets for surviving lockdown

Another lockdown has struck due to a surge of Covid-19 cases in South Africa due to the spread of the Delta variant.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the move to lockdown alert level 4 on 27 June, promising that the restrictions will be reviewed in two weeks.

The drone would be a lot of fun, if you can find a place to fly it.
That is the issue, people call and report drones flying quickly. Easier to not get one unless you fly it around your house. That being said, there are alternatives that should be fine for most people's use cases

I'm lucky - my neighbours don't mind and I usually head straight out to sea.

Most items on there is a bit useless. Die snaaksigheid gaan verby.
The "WiFi" plug and keeb looks OK.
If you know where to get the cheapest Sonoff POW, and some components, you could easily make your own "smart" plug, maybe for cheaper or the same. Can also flash some custom FW on that Sonoff, posting data to a HomeAssistant instance.

I’d go for a cheaper brand quadcopter. There are other Chinese brands that make good ones for much better prices.

I’ve never had an issue. Even the neighbour we don’t get on with has never complained. Of course I don’t fly around other people’s yards pointing cameras into their windows.

Also no problem to fly in local parks. Just don’t be an ass. In other words keep it away from other people and land if that isn’t possible.
