10 Gbps FTTX tested

SA Internet: A TOTAL RIP-OFF

What I want to know is why our costs are SO ENORMOUSLY HIGH when people in the UK get 8MBps line speeds at £16 (16 GBP) per month! That's R194.00 a month. Why are these service providers STEALING money from POOR South Africans making us all PAY through the necks for abysmal service?

Do you have Google Earth? Use it to have a look at "why". Now, add to that the fact that they live on top of each other.

telecoms infrastructure per capita?

So where do I sign up for a test account? :p

*waves arms like a chicken with mad cow sickness*

I wonder how much it would cost to make your own copper network to say..... SEACOM? XD
*looks at bank balence*

Just remember that all the cost that we have to connect from SA to the UK is for OUR ACCOUNT. The ISP's in the UK probably don't pay interconnect fees to other counties, to use a Chuck Norris explanation, "We don't pay to connect to you, you pay to connect to us". Same deal with the US etc... I am not saying it is correct, it really frustrates the crap out of me, but it is the world we live in.

If we really wanted to piss them off there must a little data manipulation stating the following,
if the original source of the connection is not in SA, but in the UK, the max speed is 2 k/sec, else if original source is SA, and not the UK then unlimited, same counts for US etc,,,, but I think this might backfire on us....

A few more centuries before telscum allows us to have this kind of speed:(
