10 mb line and account question

I never seem to get 10mb dwn speed on www.speedtest.net

Here is what my line syncs at.
DownStream Connection Speed 10014 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 1019 kbps

My question is:
Does anybody else get 10mb down and 1mb up when doing a speed test. Im using a mweb 10mb uncapped premium account

Those speeds are normal I also get those speeds (on my FNB account) but about half when using AH. But to answer your question, those speeds are accurate. I have never done a speedtest that is 10mb. My movies also downloads at 8/9mb/s.

The maximum download/upload speeds will always be slower than the connection speeds due to ATM/Ethernet/TCPIP etc. overheads. These are unavoidable and will reduce the connection speeds by around 13%. Other factors such as congestion can reduce the speeds even further. The highest local download Speedtest result that I've recorded on my 10Mbps line is around 8.52Mbps.

When i do a speed test often i'm getting higher then 10. I think the highest that i have seen was 10.85 Mbs. My DL are sitting around 950-960 using torrents.

Post your router stats, sync speed etc.

If you are getting speeds higher than around 8.5-8.7 you're not syncing at 10Mb

I'm not at home and my router is off. But the router syncs at something like 10015 and 1015. It is a 10Mb line. Tonight will post some pics.

Post your router stats, sync speed etc.

I've managed a 9Mb before but that was a freak test. 8ish is normal.

Multithread your downloads and ull get 10mb. That speedtest is not a 100% true reflection of your speeds. If you multithread you should easily cap out at 10Mb (My torrents often show 1MB/s)

I could not find the test that i did, when i got my line. But there is one that i did just now.

1MB/s isn't 10Mb

10240/8 = 1250KB/s

1250/1024=1.22MB/s
