Not to sure if this is the right place o post this.

I came accross this article/site and found it very very interesting.

Here's a couple of the artifacts that have been found that i found very interesting.

The Bible tells us that God created Adam and Eve just a few thousand years ago, by some fundamentalist interpretations. Science informs us that this is mere fiction and that man is a few million years old, and that civilization just tens of thousands of years old. Could it be, however, that conventional science is just as mistaken as the Bible stories? There is a great deal of archeological evidence that the history of life on earth might be far different than what current geological and anthropological texts tell us. Consider these astonishing finds:

The Grooved Spheres
Over the last few decades, miners in South Africa have been digging up mysterious metal spheres. Origin unknown, these spheres measure approximately an inch or so in diameter, and some are etched with three parallel grooves running around the equator. Two types of spheres have been found: one is composed of a solid bluish metal with flecks of white; the other is hollowed out and filled with a spongy white substance. The kicker is that the rock in which they where found is Precambrian - and dated to 2.8 billion years old! Who made them and for what purpose is unknown.

The Dropa Stones
In 1938, an archeological expedition led by Dr. Chi Pu Tei into the Baian-Kara-Ula mountains of China made an astonishing discovery in some caves that had apparently been occupied by some ancient culture. Buried in the dust of ages on the cave floor were hundreds of stone disks. Measuring about nine inches in diameter, each had a circle cut into the center and was etched with a spiral groove, making it look for all the world like some ancient phonograph record some 10,000 to 12,000 years old. The spiral groove, it turns out, is actually composed of tiny hieroglyphics that tell the incredible story of spaceships from some distant world that crash-landed in the mountains. The ships were piloted by people who called themselves the Dropa, and the remains of whose descendents, possibly, were found in the cave

The other 8 things they have found are:

1.The Ica Stones
2.The Antikythera Mechanism
3.The Baghdad Battery
4.The Coso Artifact
5.Ancient Model Aircraft
6.Giant Stone Balls of Costa Rica
7.Impossible Fossils
8. Out-of-Place Metal Objects

Bible stories.. one of the ways to look at those is that time is written very badly.. pending on religion there is usually a good explanation for it. One thing to remember is that the concept of length of time has varied drastically over the yrs as people have lived longer and our perception of e.g. length of existence, life on earth etc has become far beyond what anyone would have thought a century or more ago perhaps even unfathomable much like a 1terabyte of data seemed not too long ago. Remember, before concepts such as infinity or even very large numbers were introduced there had to be some large number able to represent scale.

There are other threads on this. All "mysteries" have been long debunked or explained. Do a search.

About the aliens from another world part - there are tons of ancient hieroglyphs in which the ancients drew spaceships and beings from other planets that visited this world. They called them spacegods and/or skygods, because these beings were very intelligent and taught them everything they knew. Link .

You are lazy.. I googled all those things.. and dude.. most of them are hoaxes. Retarded information. Its really sad to see how easily people are fooled.

Post reported as pseudoscience and not natural science.

Have you read the Ancient Astronaut theory ?

The theory is interesting and even reading it with an open mind some of the stuff are just not believable

Anyone read "Slave Species of god'? South African writer Michael Tellinger.

IMO a good book and also some compelling stuff. ET's creating man from their DNA and such. That part seems a little "way out" to me but the book covers some other very interesting finds.

Not for someone that cannot entertain an idea without subscribing to it though.

Which ones are not?

1. Grooved Spheres

The Klerksdorp Spheres are small objects, often spherical to disc-shaped, which have been collected by miners and rockhounds from 3-billion-year-old pyrophyllite deposits mined by Wonderstone Ltd., near Ottosdal, South Africa. These objects have been cited by alternative researchers and reporters in books[1][2], popular articles[3][4], and many web pages[5][6], as inexplicable out of place artifacts that could only have been manufactured by intelligent beings. Conventional geologists[7][8][9][10], who have personally studied these objects, have argued that these objects are not manufactured, but are rather the result of natural processes.

Either that, or cosmic cricket balls.

2. Dropa Stones

Big BS hoax. Selected bits:

"Tsum Um Nui" is not a real Chinese name, and critics suggest that Dr. Tsum may not have actually existed. However Tsum Um Nui is claimed to be a Japanese name adapted to Chinese language. There is no evidence of his existence beyond the Dropa allegations.

5. The Disks. All that exists of the supposed alien disks are several wide-angle photographs. The disks photographed, firstly, do not match the described "12-inch disks"; the disks photographed are very large. Secondly, the photos show none of the supposed deep grooves. Finally, absolutely no photos, descriptions, analyses or any other evidence of the actual 'alien script' appear anywhere at all.

6. The Evidence. The disks were supposed to be stored in several museums in China. None of these museums have any traces of these disks, nor can any be found of the ones supposedly sent to USSR for analysis.

7. The Dropa Tribe. While reported to be a tribe of feeble dwarfs, in actuality the Dropas are nomadic herders who inhabit most of the northern Tibetan Plateau.

3. The Ica Stones.

Hoax.

The stones are reported to have been found in caves and stream beds. Because they are rocks and contain no organic material, Carbon-14 dating cannot be used. No other method of radiometric dating has been applied to the stones. Because the supposed locations of their alleged discovery have not been disclosed, it is impossible to estimate their age based on nearby geological strata. Furthermore, even a confirmation of the rocks' age would not prove that the engravings upon them had not been produced at a later date.

Neil Steede, an archaeologist who was investigating the Ica stones for The Mysterious Origins of Man (a film which attempted to make the case that humans had existed far earlier than previously thought), said that he found no patina on the engravings but that the rocks themselves showed patina, suggesting that the engravings are indeed younger than the rocks.[citation needed]

In 1998, Spanish investigator Vicente Paris declared after four years of investigation that the evidence indicates that the stones are a hoax. Among the proofs presented by this investigator were microphotographs of the stones that showed traces of modern paints and abrasives. The strongest evidence of fraud as claimed is the crispness of the shallow engravings; stones of great age should have substantial erosion of the surfaces.[1]

4. Antikythera Mechanism.

Exists. True. An amazing device, but not a mystery.

5. Baghdad Battery.

Maybe. Maybe not. Much speculating. Unlikely.

In 1940 König published a paper speculating that they may have been galvanic cells, perhaps used for electroplating gold onto silver objects.[1] This interpretation continues to be considered as at least a hypothetical possibility.

The gilded objects which König thought might be electroplated are now believed to have been fire-gilded (with mercury). Reproduction experiments of electroplating by Dr. Arne Eggebrecht consumed "many" reproduction cells to achieve a plated layer just one micrometre thick. Other scientists noted that Dr. Eggebrecht used a more efficient, modern electrolyte; using only vinegar, the "battery" is very feeble.

Even if it is accepted that the "Baghdad batteries" were in fact electrical devices, this provides no evidence of any real knowledge of electrical phenomena.

6. Coso Artifact.

A bit of an ooops!

An investigation carried out by Pierre Stromberg and Paul Heinrich, with the help of members of the Spark Plug Collectors of America, suggested that the artifact is a 1920s Champion spark plug. Chad Windham, President of the Spark Plug Collectors of America, identified the Coso Artifact as a 1920s-era Champion spark plug, which was widely used in the Ford Model T and Model A engines. Other spark plug collectors concurred with his assessment.[1]

Stromberg and Heinrich's report[1] indicates the spark plug became encased in a concretion composed of iron derived from the rusting spark plug. It is typical of iron and steel artifacts to rapidly form iron oxide concretions around them as they rust in the ground.[3]

7. Ancient Model Aircraft.

Very interesting. Is it a bird? Is it an aeroplane?

The OP's quoted article picture of a South American object could be anything.

8. Giant Stone Balls of Costa Rica.

They are hardly a new discovery, nor are they especially mysterious. In fact, archaeological excavations undertaken at sites with stone balls in the 1950s found them to be associated with pottery and other materials typical of the Pre-Columbian cultures of southern Costa Rica. Whatever "mystery" exists has more to do with loss of information due to the destruction of the balls and their archaeological contexts than lost continents, ancient astronauts, or transoceanic voyages.

Hundreds of stone balls have been documented in Costa Rica, ranging in size from a few centimeters to over two meters in diameter. Almost all of them are made of granodiorite, a hard, igneous stone. These objects are not natural in origin, unlike the stone balls in Jalisco, Mexico that were described in a 1965 National Geographic article. Rather, they are monolithic sculptures made by human hands.

9. Impossible Fossils.

Vague statements - specifics needed.

Here's one debunk - "it looks like creationist BS" -

This left me suspecting that it may well have been a nonhuman impression that resembled part of a human hand print, which was then enhanced and extended by carving.

10. Out-of-Place Metal Objects.

Again vaguely expressed. Here's one -

The stone is real, and it looks impressive to someone unfamiliar with geological processes. How could a modern artifact be stuck in Ordovician rock? The answer is that the concretion itself is not Ordovician. Minerals in solution can harden around an intrusive object dropped in a crack or simply left on the ground if the source rock (in this case, reportedly Ordovician) is chemically soluble (Cole, 1985).

Cole also noted that the hammer is of "recent American historic style," and concluded that it was probably a 19th century miner's hammer.

Here's another -

The cup was likely dropped by a worker either inside a coal mine or in a mine's surface workings. Mineralization is common in the coal and surrounding debris of coal mines because rainwater reacts with the newly exposed minerals and produces highly mineralized solutions. Coal, sediments, and rocks are commonly cemented together in just a few years. It could easily appear that a pot cemented in such a concretion could appear superficially as if it were encased in the original coal. Or small pieces of coal, including powder, could have been recompressed around the cup by weight (Isaac, 2005).

A lot of these hoaxes are presented by one Carl Baugh, creationist. The Wikipedia article on him says

Baugh has a history of deception.

Nice, thanks for the info rwenzori.

Lol, looks more like all of them have a wiff of the hoaxies, barring the Antikythera Mechanism. But even that seems to be mis-presented.

Sure - I felt it maybe worth getting the info into a post, as these come around every so often on forum.

+1 Thanx Rwenzori

I like The atikythera mechanism looks interesting...

There is much we do not know about the ancient greeks or egyptians...

It is very easy to debunk the anomoly, as the very nature of an anomoly makes it an easily refutable object.
It is the proverbial nail that protrudes above the rest, and naturally must be hammered back into place, so as not to disturb the smoothness of the surface.

In the investigation of anomolies one finds it insiduously and subconsciously implanted in articles, the carefully chosen wording and language of debunking:
I.E. From the article on the Klerksdorp Spheres

Take the wording of the first line "cited by alternative researchers and reporters in books" , then compare to "Conventional geologists, who have personally studied"
Who do we naturally believe?
We believe the conventional, because it denotes authority and the use of personally denotes having individualism, so we are left with the image of the "Authorotative knowledgable scientist"
As opposed to the alternative researcher, as alternative denotes different, strange, odd and non-conventional, therefore shouldnt be taken seriously.

We are taught this from young, that different is not right, but wrong, conventional is right and non-conventional wrong, authority is right not wrong as explained so nicely in the following quote:
When I was four years old they tried to test my IQ, they showed me this picture of three oranges and a pear. They asked me which one is different and does not belong, they taught me different was wrong. ~Ani Difranco

Its the language, manner and nature of the art of debunking, that despicable pastime employed by the closed minded conventional thinking masses who believe so emphatically in their "facts" that nothing may be allowed to intrude upon the tranquil truth they have created and fashioned to their own belief structures.

The following article gives a lovely outline of the art of debunking:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/243052/How-to-Debunk-Just-About-Anything

Establishment science has thus gotten into the habit of ignoring, burying or suppressing what has now become astonishing amounts of anomalous evidence. Some of this evidence challenges the very foundations of the accepted scientific worldview, and none of it is taught in universities or covered by textbooks. Mention any of it to a mainstream scientist, and odds are you will be dismissed as a crank, or worse, a crackpot. The conclusion is sobering: some of what passes for "scientific fact" these days is little more than a social construct. What is true and what is not is determined by the scientific prestige of the claimant, the predilections of journal editors and referees, and by economic interests. A scientist who challenges the status quo becomes a persona non grata - banned from publication in journals and speaking on conferences, defunded, marginalized

"I know that most men, including those at ease with problems of the
greatest complexity, can seldom accept even the simplest and most
obvious truth if it be such as would oblige them to admit the falsity of
conclusions which they have delighted in explaining to colleagues, which
they have proudly taught to others, and which they have woven, thread by
thread, into the fabric of their lives." -Tolstoy

"It is really quite amazing by what margins competent but conservative
scientists and engineers can miss the mark, when they start with the
preconceived idea that what they are investigating is impossible. When
this happens, the most well-informed men become blinded by their
prejudices and are unable to see what lies directly ahead of them."
- Arthur C. Clarke, 1963

"When even the brightest mind in our world has been trained up from
childhood in a superstition of any kind, it will never be possible
for that mind, in its maturity, to examine sincerely, dispassionately,
and conscientiously any evidence or any circumstance which shall seem
to cast a doubt upon the validity of that superstition." - Mark Twain
