Have you tried their whatsapp chatbot? It sometimes has different deals

The 100 GByte for me is not speed limited. I only have an oldish 4G router, but I get easily 30 to 40 Mbit/sec on this bundle.

There’d be no reason for MTN to cap speeds on prepaid bundles, ideally they want you to burn through that data as fast as possible so you need to buy more.

What do you mean, day or night doesn’t matter, on prepaid they want you to use that data asap.

Counter point, make it slow enough that you can't easily get through 100gb in 30 days and then you never get what you're paying for.

I'm thinking about spending the R219 on 100 GB to test it out ; rather a waste as I don't need it right now, especially at the start of a new month's capped data, from Telkom - might delay it until the 3rd week of May as a result.

This test I just did is using Afrihost's Air Mobile APN through MTN on my 4G phone :

.. so if your theory's right about being limited to about 10 Mbps down, it'll be quite a significant difference, but still can live with for 30 days as it's only a one-off prepaid spend.

The Black Friday contract deals that Xiphan tested from MTN are not the same as these prepaid deals. As I mentioned, with my B315s router I get around 30-40 Mbit in the places I have used it, mostly on vacation at small coastal towns. I would be surprised if this 100GB prepaid is somehow speed limited.

Okay thanks - I read what you & others further back wrote some time ago, then forgot.

Strange that they allow more of a (speed) concession - if that's what's happening - to prepaid users vs. those willing to sign up for an extended time.
