100Mbps+100GB or 10Mbps+Uncapped?

Would you rather have a 100Mbps+100GB or 10Mbps+Uncapped data Internet connection

Definitely 100Mbps+100GB. My bandwidth with Afrihost has been dirt cheap, at R199 for 200GB, and I know capped nearly always has better throughput than uncapped. Uncapped has so many more users sharing the same pipe, and is more often than not throttled and or shaped long, long before that happens to a capped user, if ever.
 
I'm happy with capped in general, but 100GB is too low as a hard cap. I use ~20GB on an average month, but do occasionally go over 100GB (lots of updates, new Linux distros to download, etc).
 
I see lots of comments about add on bundles being cheap. That makes sense if you can get it. It doesn't seem to be an option everywhere, though. MetroFibre are installing in our area now, and their capped options are 10Mbps/20GB, 25Mbps/50GB, 500Mbps/100GB, 100Mbps/200GB. I would be happy with 10-25Mbps, but 50GB is not enough. Add on bundles are expensive, at R59/10GB, R139/25GB, R269/50GB or R499/100GB. Compare this to my current R149/150GB from WebAfrica :-(

With Afrihost I pay R199 for 200GB, so I can comfortably use up to 600GB a month if need be, but they had a carry over until December, so I have 397GB remaining after paying R400.

100Mbps + 100G
The speed allows me ease of access with the 100gigs being just right to get enough done while still enjoying life. 10Mbps would cause anyone to become a luddite.

100Mbps + 200GB + uncapped between 0:00 and 05:00 (for updates). Don;t see why I should pay for updates and bug fixes.

The network architecture of your Fibre network would be the reason for it not being symmetrical. In a point-to-point deployment, you are right, symmetrical is pretty much a 'no-brainer'. However most of the fibre deployments (read:OpenServe) uses an GPON architecture which leads to an assymmetrical downstream/upstream split of approximately 2:1 ratio (i.e. you could theorectially get a 100mbps down with 50mbps up, depending on how your provider decided to split it.)
 
If its totaly unshaped the 10meg option with uncapped would be fantastic, but shaping does happen so id go for the 100meg option.
 
Definitely 10-uncapped provided it's unshaped. 100Gb is not nearly enough for anyone streaming as their main source for Tv.

Also, does 100Gb even cover monthly windows 10 updates?

100Mbps+100GB is like driving a ferari with a R100 petrol you won't go far!!
 
The ideal option would be for me personally...... Fibre @ 100-150Mbps capped at 1TB (unshaped or any other restriction) Gamers would disagree for sure, gamers need their own dedicated network called (GAMERS GALORE UNLIMITED):crylaugh:

A lot of people are missing the point of the poll. The reason it's on extremes is to find out what's more important to you, data or speed.

If you're trying to find work arounds of getting more data, or complaining about shaping or price you're missing the point.

Assume prices are the same.
Assume the 100mb/s line explodes once 100GBs of data has passed through.
Assume they're both unshaped (even though you get shaped capped data too).
 
If the 10 Mbps is 10 up and 10 down, heck even 5 up and 10 down, then I'll take that. I'm currently on 10 MB ADSL and my biggest frustration is upload speed.

I run threw around 100 - 150 GB per month so don't really need uncapped per say, but I know with a 100 Mbps connection only 100 GB per month won't be enough. Think the sweet spot for me will actually be around 50 Mbps with 200 - 250 GB per month, I would love that 100 Mbps speed but in reality I know it's not really possible to utilize except if there's a few users in the house.

100gb on a 100mb line is just too little. I use around 270GB a month on a 4mb line, So the 10Mb uncapped wins hands down.
 
The 100MB line will be awsome to have , but 100GB does not go far. We average 10GB a day and this is mostly just streaming NEtflix in 1080p ...

10MB line uncapped will thus be the required line.... however the question is if you go uncapped one usually gets screwed on the FUP like Telkom has 200GB where you get throttled ??

So who uses the Openserve 10MB uncapped fibre deal at this stage and how do you find the experience ... as i'm sitting with this conundrum of changing my 20Mb/s vdsl line for fibre and need to see if I take a capped deal at higher speed or uncapped 10Mb/s deal ??? and yes my only choice is openserve ...
