1080i and 1080p

my flat screen monitor is 1080P ready but my pc box is vrek old so would my pc effect the picture quality of the screen?

How old is old?

It depends on your graphics card, if it processes 1080p.
Now im seeing people talk about 1080i/1080p/720i/720p.

Ok look, for example, we have a 26inch with a resolution of 1366x768.
This monitor will support 720p, thats the highest it can support in progressive scan.

Now we get interlaced, 1080i will work on this monitor, but the display would be crap because the monitor doesnt have a native resolution of 1080. Which means, that you are forcing your movie to play on 1080p but it cant so it reverts back to 1080i.

And i read some other post, forgot where, but anyway...if you dont have any 1080p or 720p movies then you not really using your monitor to the best of its capabilities.
