10km/h average speed warning for Gauteng

By 2037 we will be using teleporters, so this wont be a problem.

Oh I wish ... I'd love to step into my teleporter and instantly be at work, rather than 2h30+ travelling per day ...

Coenie Vermaak is probably right about congestion but building new freeways won’t solve the problem. Certainly monetizing what tax payers already paid for then charging 3 times going rate to upgrade due to corruption, theft and mis-management to build more roads is even more improbable! How about we restart from square one; liquidate SaNral, SAA, Post Office, SABC I.e. the SA government and then rebuild with honest competent people.

They are fools if they think that they can keep building roads to relieve congestion. The congestion on the freeways was already effective within months of the first phase completion. Effective, reliable public transport is the only way to go.

Idiots!
We have enough lanes if people just use them correctly. On most 4-lane hiways the trucks hog the second lane. The old people scared of trucks or trying to safe fuel drive 80-100 in the 3rd lane, so that just leave the fast lane for everyone else.

Adding more lanes won't solve this problem as everyone will just move to the right and the extra lanes will be occupied by trucks.

The metro cops should actually do their job and make sure that the slow moving traffic keep left.

LOL - hundreds of billions blown on GFIP adding additional lanes and the ridiculous e-tolling system, but at the end of it all there are no new on/offramps which would have made the real difference, and many of the on/off ramps actually have no more lanes than they did previously. Just take the stretch between Rivonia and Randburg - it crosses so many arterials without access. How much less congested would the William Nicol/Rivonia and Malibongwe intersections be if there were on/offramps at Main Rd/Grosvenor/Hans Strijdom/Rabie, etc, etc?

Yes, Coenie... we believe a stooge of the company that was setup to fleece the public of Gauteng out of billions...

You can fsck right off and go sit in your loss making little corner, we don't give a **** about your stupid opinion.
:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

The only issue is that ETC (aka Kapsch TrafficCom an Austrian company) has a contact with SANRAL, and they get payed on meeting certain performance targets - like how many photos they took, if they smile when billing, if the gantry is clean and works, etc.
Performance targets exclude collection.
From what I can establish, ETC have been paid at least R4.85b until 2018.
The contract is up for renewal.

Q. Why do we need to pay for e-tags, when number-plate recognition is what's actually used?

hey coenie, it's nice to have the safety net of south african taxpayers to cover your incredibly reckless spending.

sanral motto: want to do something? go do it! south africans will cover your failures.

And no one will be paying eTolls either in 2037 , idiot

What is government doing with our license renewal fees, I pay 12500 excl penalties on a truck and 9500 on a trailer.

No we'll progress without the cANCer but we'll never prosper again after everything we had pre 1991 has been pillaged.
Forever the optimist eh? Nothing wrong with that but I'm afraid the writing is on the wall, highlighted, in bold and in uppercase. It might recover one of these days but not for decades and decades. This is Africa remember, not exactly a continent known for progress. It's all to do with mentality, culture and attitude.
