One of Telkom’s next big projects is deploying a faster version of ADSL known as ADSL2+, which theoretically allows download speeds of up to 24Mbit/s. Msimango expects speeds of about 8-10Mbit/s, twice as fast as Telkom’s fastest current ADSL offering. The company hopes to make the technology available in the first half of next year.
uncapped is not truly uncapped, cos as soon as you reach a certain threshold(u download too much in a few days), they cut the speed of ur line and the amount u can download in the following days and they give u a certain amount u can download in the following days - if u download up to that new amount, ur full line speed is returned and u get ur normal bandwidth again, but if u go over that new amount they cut ur line speed and bandwidth again.

Uncapped Express ADSL – Interpreting the service
This Business ADSL service has been developed mainly for the conservative business user who requires the assurance of an uninterrupted and fixed cost ADSL service. The Business ADSL Express service is a managed service, whereby the customers usage is monitored and recorded. The service is allocated a certain threshold for the month which is divided into a 10 day rolling window. If a customer reaches his 10 day threshold before the 10th day, his bandwidth will be halved (e.g. 384K to 192K, 512Kbps to 256Kbps and 1MB to 512K). However, if the consumption is reduced, the bandwidth will be restored to the purchased level. This mechanism has been put in place in order to discourage abuse of the service and thereby giving the conservative business user a more superior service.
The thresholds are as follows:
384K= 15 Gig for 30 days which is divided in 3 segments of 5 Gig each. The usage is monitored over a 10 day rolling window period. Should you reach these thresholds the service still remains uncapped but your download speeds are reduced by half (192K)
512K = 30 Gig for 30 days which is divided in 3 segments of 10 Gig each. The usage is monitored over a 10 day rolling window period. Should you reach these thresholds the service still remains uncapped but your download speeds are reduced by half (256K)
1024K= 60 Gig for 30 days which is divided in 3 segments of 20 Gig each. The usage is monitored over a 10 day rolling window period. Should you reach these thresholds the service still remains uncapped but your download speeds are reduced by half (512K)
This service is unshaped and no restrictions are placed on this service whatsoever eg P2P. A normal user name and password is provided for this service so clients may use there own routers. Though 2 x Concurrent connections are advertised, the second concurrent connection is designed to assist customers when there connection is sometimes locked on the network allowing them a second option to connect.
Alot needs to change in terms of bandwidth, a 3GB cap on a 10MB line will be gone in less than a day.
If they do IPTV then they will have to make it an "uncapped according to useage" type system where you can watch as much or little as you want on it.
How could they offer a service that will stop when you reach the cap?
if u read properly u woulda seen that i'm talking about "uncapped" and not "uncapped express" goofball. who the flip can afford uncapped express? ppl who go for uncapped go for the normal uncapped. businesses go for uncapped express.
Yeah probably, Telkom sadly have more bandwidth available than they let on.
The other companies who dont have the infrastructure that telscum do are going to battle to provide a similar thing.
Does anyone have any ideas as to when IPTV will be available as a consumer product?
