Twelve students have been arrested for public violence after they blocked the entrance to the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto campus on Tuesday morning, police said.
Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said police had been called to the scene and only managed to arrest 12 students. He said the others had managed to run away.
The group was being held at the Kliptown police station, he said.
Earlier, two students from the University of Witwatersrand were also arrested, one of whom was a member of the SRC, Busisiwe Seabe.
