This is in the Umhlanga Rocks area

I feel all your pain. Where I am, I will be lucky to get 10mb
and only option is ADSL.

Still nothing close to what has been widely advertised. Get your friend to speedtest seacom, only speedtest server in SA that supports 1Gb/s speed.

Hate you! Don't use that word often but this i feel is sufficient to use it!

yes, that is true. but hell, I will be happy with that. I ask him to do some more test tonight and also to international servers.
will post update tomorrow.

That's to their own speedtest server.... Test their peering e.g to mweb, and then an international to e.g London

Just a follow up.
He did a test to Ealing in the UK.
Download 8.86 Mbps
Upload 7.85 Mbps
Ping 177 ms

Not as good. but still loads better than ADSL. I will ask for more test over the next few days.

ey i don't care what the speeds are for international, as long as they better than my 4meg. Love the results wish i could get fibre to my place and maybe actually start being able to stream to Twitch for once

Well those speeds are spot on if he is on the 1Gbps local/10Mbps international account for R799.

I think that is correct.

1 Gbps local and 10 Mbps international.
Though I would have likes to see slightly better result to local, but will get another pic this evening once he gets home.

Tell your friend to get a local VPN, and then run an international speedtest again please. Something worth considering with 123net.
