Something to consider. Scooters have small wheels and are notoriously twitchy when it comes to handling.

Something more normal sized wheels will be much better in the long run.

KTM Duke 150cc. DAMN! She will have all the boys chasing her on their 50cc's
She would be down for that. I'm not down for the price tho, lol.

Anyways, back to the original question
Yeah 125cc or 150cc is not gonna be much different for nipping around in the suburbs or whatever

But what brand are you looking for?

There are tons of kak ones that sell scooters

If you're on a tight budget and cannot afford the Hondas Yamahas etc I highly recommend the Sym brand. These things are bullet proof for their price

R25k is the max I can do.

I've looked at the Sym. I like them.

Sym brand is very good
We had a guy work with us 10 years ago that only bought Sym scooters
No idea why he wouldnt get a normal bike
Anyways, its 10 years later and he still has the same 2 Sym scooters he bought brand new back then
When he upgraded to the 2nd one he just couldnt find it in his heart to sell the smaller one so he has kept it

Even the sym wolf looks pretty nice , it's actually quite beefy in size considering its a 125cc

My daughter turns 16 next year and we have decided to buy her a scooter. At 16 she can legally only ride a 125cc, but the 150cc is the same price in most cases. I am having trouble coming to terms with paying the same price for less.
Is there any good reason to buy the 125 over the 150? As for the legality, I have been stopped only once in 15 years of riding (and never ever riding my 250cc when I was 17) and even if they stop her I doubt they will recognize a 150cc over a 125cc.

Its still a good 10 months away but I'm thinking about this now because I want to buy a cheap crappy scooter so she can get comfortable riding it in the interim.
Opt for a KTM 125. https://radktm.co.za/product/ktm-125-duke-2021/
If she insists on a scooter, steer very clear from SYM, Big Boy and other Chinese brands. You will save money not buying k2k.

And if it has to be a scooter.

Here is the summary buying garbage engines.
Its atrocious, but cheap.

Price on that Duke ?
Sadly 64k. Ye i wouldnt pay 64k for a 125.
Would rather pay the 44k for the yamaha scooter.

Or better yet. Pay 75k for the duke 390, and another R2000 for a fake ID for my daughter saying she is 18

Also iirc only a 150cc and above is allowed on highways.

Might have changed over the years.

But as mentioned in the event of a accident insurance might repudiate any claims including third parties claims.

Depends which you looking at.
390 and below is overpriced.

Actually the 890R also. Fair enough. But i still love dem KTM's
I never said they're kak ;) I would give my left nutsack for one, butI cannot afford the upkeep. Hence I will neverbuy one and just stick to my gay hondas and bmw that I have

You don't need a 150. The 125s are fine. I drove one in Taiwan for a year as did everyone else. You only use them in the city and the power to weight ratio is good enough that you can get away from most traffic at the lights. Roads are crap in SA, though, and so are most drivers.
