It swwms MTN decided to give the 64k a skip and go directly onto 128k. What is the advantage? Can it handle higher speeds? Will Vodacom be releaseing them when they gear upto 2mb/s?
The memory on the SIM or USIM won't affect the speed. Obviously the bigger memory is handy for keeping more data (phones numbers, etc.) and apps on the card, if supported by the handset.
I'm not aware of any immediate plans to distribute 128K USIMS but will confirm.
silly question:
do these higher capacity sims require more power?
i.e. do they shorten handset talk/standby times significantly?
cause then methinks me will stay with me trusty old 32k
The only advantage I've read about is more storage for contacts (and more fields for said contacts) as well as 3G international roaming. I'm currently on MTN and have an old 16k(!) sim card and I can still connect via 3G (on a 6680).
