& 2 Terabyte memory cards once again making the sim useless for storage ;)

correct me if im wrong but theres no marked storage capacity difference on the sims as far contacts etc goes, all the larger sim does is allocate extra space for browser usage and allows for better signal handeling.so in essance the "cool for extra space" is a non issue.......but like i said ,i might be wrong on this one.?

I also understand it this way, but will check with someone who actually knows for sure.

I use the phone to store my contacts (have hundreds) and Outlook to back it up. I found this to be the best way to keep multiple phones in sync.

It can take more contacts, it has more space for VAS services to be loadoed onto the card i.e. better vodata software can be made and installed and finally yes it does have better signal handling. One more thing MTN is already giving them, saw one yesterday in a mate's phone says 128k on the back.

ok ,maybe im missing sumthing.have 2 in front of me..a 32k and a 128k.......they both only take 250 contacts? as for using phone mem and outlook backup...im with you V3G.

interesting.............thanx grim, just strange im receiving this directly off the card.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm could they be branding the mtn crd incorrectly?? im about to delve into the sorded world of crd making lol.

It could be that the phone your using can only access 250 contacts from a sim card, what phone are you using?

As far as I understand a SIM has a memory capacity and is generic. The mobile network customises the SIM to become a mobile phone SIM to be used to access their network i.e. configures the IMSI and encryption keys, PIN, PUK etc and during this process they allocate the memory of the SIM to the various functions i.e. contacts, SMS-C storage. So if you now have a 128k sim but during customising is still the same as for a 32k SIM you may just end up with a load of unallocated memory.
