Just remembered that I wanted to test that new Vodacom hosted speedtest.net server myself to see what I got. Nothing nearly as over the top. But still pretty amazing considering I am on a 3.6 profile.

Pretoria - Vodacom D: 3Mb/s U: 1.05Mb/s


Midrand - Neology D: 3.53Mb/s U: 1.34Mb/s


Cape Town - SAIX D: 4.12Mb/s U: 1.29Mb/s


Looking at these I am quite looking forward to Vodacom turing on 7.2 for all its customers.

Very interesting. I think the fact that you are in Pretoria and testing to the Pretoria server you are not actually breaking out of the network, so you are getting more of a on network result rather than a true internet speed result. It still however does not explain the fact that the device is not capable of those speeds.
