Hey Guys,

My boss currently has a 17" HP ProBook (4730s i5) which is becoming a burden for her to travel around with - especially on flights. It's too large and cumbersome.

She's asked me to look into something smaller, thinner and lighter - preferably not bigger than 14". She's going on about wanting something "sexy" and lightweight. She owns and hates tablets BTW... I know Acer have some ultra thin netbooks around, but I'd prefer to try find her something with a bit more power. She only uses it for Outlook, word, powerpoint and the odd 3D generated "game" our 3D animators produce, but I'd like to get her something fairly future proof...

Do you guys have any recommendations for a decent notebook fitting her criteria, not more than around R12,000?

Thanks!

HP have some nifty 13" ultrabooks. That said, **** Windows and get her a macbook air!!!

The Dell XPS 13 would be my choice.

Just saw PC Zone has a 14" Samsung Ultrabook for R9500, maybe you can get a similar price elsewhere. Also includes R125 Win8 upgrade & 3yr onsite warranty.

Do you know what model number this one is? I can't seem to find this specific model with those specs? It seems like quite a powerful ultrabook.

samsung 530u4b-s03 according to the store.

If I google that model I get the same thing but a few things vary, HDD, CPU & GPU but the rest stays the same. The model numbers also seem to vary a bit by region.

It might even have a 16GB cache SSD but I can't confirm that, just jumping to that conclusion about foreign models.

Recently got a Macbook Air 13" and its a great portable notebook and I find Mac OS to be quite intuitive to use and a welcome change from Windows 7.

For a ultrabook you could always look at the Asus Zenbook Prime and some of the newly launches Acer Ultrabooks also look pretty good, but do go for something with a screen resolution better than the default HD resolution.
