So, is it really worth it to go for the 2.2Ghz processor in the new 15"?

I understand the GFX card is not as good as the higher model, but I can't really afford the higher one as I am trying to sell my 17" for so little...

No, it's not really worth it. The best value is always the entry level MBP, and the worst value is always the upgraded one.

Yeah maybe I will win one in mybb comp.that will be so awesome I will donate my soul to RPM

Laptop upgrades are definitely not worth it, unless you are fortunate enough to have spare parts lying around. I looked at upgrading the cpu and gpu of my notebook last year but a processor easily costs 10x more when its socket is notebook specific compared to desktop specific.

Waiting for a quote on the new 17" to "replace" or as backup for our Mac Pro's at work (and for me to test some i-Apps). Hope the exchange rate helps////

Yea, only parts you can really upgrade yourself is the RAM and HDD.

Still trying to sell this for 17500 ?

I dont think it will make a very noticeable difference. 2.0 is really good enough and you wont lose sleep over it.

And the gfx card? I have read that the 330 is better than the new 6490 in the 2.0 ghz one.

Hey Pooky, I've been following your unhappiness with your MBP 17". Remember that it's easier to buy than to sell. I have a 2.4 i5 and quite happy with it. Although to tell the truth I managed to get an iMac 27" 2.8 i5 at a very good price so my MBP must be feeling the chill at present.
Maybe I'll sell it before I go to Australia in May and buy the newer model there. But a new iPad 2 remains my priority.
Good luck with your decision.

Thanks I decided it was not worth it to sell. I well save up for a macbook air for university.

Even though you've decided not to upgrade at all...

It all depends on what your doing.
The 1Gb Graphics Card should speed up video and 3D renders considerably. So if your a video editor or model buildings in 3D etc I'd say go for the 2.2Ghz, but honestly even the 2.0Ghz is so fast it doesn't really matter.
