Hi Guys, newbie needs some help please.
I have a Yamaha a/v receiver and a 127 cm Samsung TV with Ethernet port.
My PC is connected to the Internet via ADSL uncapped.
I would like to play movies from Internet (or saved movies from HD) through the Yamaha amp via HDMI.
Do not want to use the network connection from the PC to the TV because I would like to make use of the
upscaling feature of the Yamaha amp for video and also the sound options on the amp, therefore the HDMI connection.
My problem is, the HDMI cable would have to be 15 meters from PC to Amp HDMI input.
Would there be too much signal loss?
Have not researched yet, also not sure if there is such a card for the PC?
Thanks very much for your help.

Not sure about max length but i ran a similiar setup a few years back with a 10meter HDMI cable with no noticeable quality issues.
Not to discourage you but that setup gets annoying after a while, with regards to selecting content <movies, music, etc> being away from the TV and especially when streaming youtube etc. I prefer armchair control.

I then went the 1080p media player (Mvix) route with wireless streaming and HD upscaling plus the benefit of a HDD for storage and recording. Everything can be controlled via the media player remote, no need to go to PC to change content.

I also tried with a 15m cable and eventually got an HDD-based TVIX media player. Much simpler IMO

Thanks

Thanks guys, have enough info now to decide. Do not want to spend another R1000 for a media player,so will stick with the HDMI solution.
