1508 August cooking challenge: Microwave only

When I was a kid, we had a Woolies microwave cookbook, it was full of awesome. One of the recipes that we made often included placing pork sausages into a microwavable dish, and covering them with a can of tomato and onion mix, and zapping them for a couple of minutes. Will try and find the recipe book later on today and post the full recipe tomorrow, because I feel like I'm missing a step :)

Quick and easy mince loaf

Cover the corners of the pan with aluminium foil. Make sure that the foil doesn’t touch the sides of the oven.

Microwave, uncovered, at 100% power for 15 minutes until cooked. (Take care not to overcook it, remember that it will continue to cook during standing time.)

.

Doesn't the foil spark in the microwave?

Please explain for the single folks out there! :D

Slice the potatoes very thin - a mandolin works, or a good kitchen knife.
Soak them in saltwater for 10 minutes. Drain and dry them off.
Salt and add spices as you like it - paprika, parsley, garlic powder, whatever you like. Toss with a tsp of oil.
Arrange a portion on a greased plate or other microwave dish. Microwave for 10 minutes ish. Peel off plate and continue with the rest.

When I said accessible, I wasn't thinking this...

I don't own a conventional microwave, so my participation will be limited.

Did make hasselback potatoes last week in the microwave. 'Baked' baby potatoes in the microwave using the baked potato setting. Then sliced them up, added some butter (can use olive oil instead), salt and crushed garlic, and back into the microwave on the grill setting (oven also works well) till the tips are crispy. One of my favourite potato preparations. Although I can't think of a non-favourite potato preparation...
