Seventeen people arrested for human trafficking appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday, said KwaZulu-Natal police.

Their case was postponed to Tuesday for the court to get an interpreter, said Major Thulani Zwane.

The group was arrested on Thursday when police raided a house in Grosvenor Crescent in Greenwood Park, north of Durban.

Fourteen Thai women aged between 20 and 26, who were allegedly being used for the sex trade, were found in the house, said Zwane.

"It was discovered that 12 of the women are in South Africa illegally. However, it is still yet to be determined if they were being kept here against their will," Zwane said.

Three South African men also found in the house were arrested.

Two of them were believed to have been clients while the other, a 62-year-old, was alleged to have been running the business.

If this was after 1994, and we include anc cadre placement.

National intelligence might just be idiots.

Yup porous borders are a huge issue for us.

He was telling me stories of what is happening. I also have a friend who works at Crime Intelligence and he tells me that its extremely bad in the North West province, that linked with the drug trade and he specifically told me about the Chinese involvement which I did not know about.
Crime is really out of control, not just contact crime we here about but organised crime.
I dont see how we can ever win this war.

I remember talking to a guy at national intelligence some years back and he told me I have no idea how bad human trafficking is in SA. Looked at him like yeah sure

One only needs to look at how women were treated in the terrorist camps outside SA borders to realize that nothing has changed.

Well if it is human trafficking then it is also kidnapping which should carry a minimum 25yrs sentence.

Organised crime is very healthy in SA....especially in Cape Town
Chinese, Lebanese, Russians, Moroccans etc.
