I'm FINALLY off MTN - and now have to get used to this prepaid thing - I use my phone quite a bit for email and RSS news/share feeds - anyone care to tell me how i go about loading airtime for both data and voice? I currently can't call out :(

I can buy the actual airtime using FNB's online banking... just no clue what to do then... :p

Have you phoned the initial 100? (or whatever the pack tells you to) Thats what activates the sim for calling.

Yip... done that - just need to load airtime for both calls and data...

don't want to load call airtime and then its get eaten by R2/mb data... :p

I find the *111# USSD menu is the simplest.
You can check your balance, buy bundles, etc, etc.

Remember Vodacom have a deal on until the end of August; buy 5MB, get 25MB free.

Whats your number ?

Hows it work? If I have say R200 'airtime' and I buy a data bundle of 5MB, does it just deduct the amount from the airtime?

what happens when the bundle runs out?

Yeah these are coming in handy. I hope Vodacom drops its price by end of august or I will be giving Telkom 3G a shot.

Yes log into vodacom4me.co.za go to my account > data bundles, click on 5MB (R9.25) tick [I have read and understood the TERMS AND CONDITIONS] click buy now. It will be deducted from your balance, when you run out it will start charging you out of bundle rates. So check [Available Data Bundle] frequently ( I just keep the page open, it updates in real time)

If you buy your airtime via the FNB website the amount gets credited to your account automatically and you are set to go. You can choose to either buy airtime or data bundles straight from the FNB website so that you do not need to convert the airtime on the Vodacom4me website.

Cool - thanks... off I go to try... out of interest, does my simcard need to be enabled for data on prepaid?

Ok - I bought R110 airtime voucher, about to move some of that to data bundle using *111#

Also bought R35 SMS bundle - hopefully i did this right :p

Hmm - trying to logon to Vodacom4me, went through the registration process, got an SMS with a password, and then got: " Your account has been blocked/suspended"

WTF?!

Probably a RICA mess-up. You're going to have to waste time on the phone trying to work out what the cause is though.

And so the RICA fiasco begins in earnest.
