19", hmmm, sounds like someone is compensating for something :p

Though on a more serious note. I use 2.7 and 2.5 respectively... but thats for 17" tyres.

Really? Does the pressure need to be that high? I have 17" rims on my bakkie (Corsa ute) and was told by the guys at Autowiel to inflate to 2.2.... Should I be inflating the rears more? or the front?

that sounds about right

Depends on your tyres. I have 245/45/17s...

Sounds like what mine are... but I could be way off, will have to check to see if they are the same size. Just curious, I bought the bakkie with them already fitted, first time I have had big rims so it's interesting to read comments such as yours.

reason i ask also is the car came with 2.5 all round, so i changed it to 2.4, 2.6 . . . Thing is it feels a little heavy now on the steering wheel, even though its a servotronic steering system

What the hell are you guys doing to your tires

Seriously you are all over inflating it. 2 Bar makes makes the tyre run on equal surface. I can agree with 2.4 or 2.2 if your doing a long haul at high speed....

But nothing more that 2 - 2.2 for normal driving ;)

edit:

o and BTW, the size of the tyre makes no hell of a difference. The pressure is measured and not the volume of air in the tyre. 2 bar is 2 bar in a 10" or a 20".... the volume will be different but the pressure is the same ;)

With modern steelbelts the surface do not bulge like in the old days. I have learned on a recent advanced driving cpourse that most people run their tyres on 2 bar, because their dads did the same. Generally, running it at around 2.5 will strenghen the side walls, therefore reducing the heat generated by molecular movement and cause the tyres to run cooler. The Audis we used for the course were pumped up to 3.2.....

You want me to run my wide, low profile, high performance tyres at 2 bar? It'll be 2 mins before they're shredded.

my 16's say to pump from between 2.2 and 2.5 depending o how you want the ride.. well thats what it says in the alfa manual...

Nope it will not.

Do you know how hard 2 bar is ?
When we we're allowed to drive on the coastline. My bakkie back then, i needed to let the air out to 0.6 - 0.8 bar. That is soft but not flat. 2 Bar is more than enough for any tyre

So you saying I should just completely ignore the recommendations of the people who built the car and the wheels? They probably have no clue anyway ;)

So the people who built the car also made the Custom rims and tyres you have on it ?

Rather refrain from answering this question ;)
