1982 Blade Runner.

Was one of my favourite DVD's that I owned, it had one of those WB cardboard covers

The four disc one? Yeah, had that too.

Now it’s a 1080p version of every release on an external.

And know folk will scream ‘blasphemy!’, but the ‘82 Theatrical - with Ford’s voice-over - is still my favorite. Has been since I first saw it... in a theater... thirty seven years ago...

... and now I need a drink.

Seen it many, many years ago, can't even remember what it's about. Will watch it this weekend I think.

I know what you mean. That voice-over gave the movie a film noir feel, like the old black and white detective movies. I have the four disc Final Cut on DVD that includes the theatrical release. The only version I have on HD is the Final Cut version though.

Been ages since I’ve had anything that even plays a disc. My sister’s best friend wanted to watch it and I lent her the box set... it’s been years and she still has it.

Downloading can be a ball ache too. Folk mislabel the movie, so you think you’re getting the Director’s Cut but you end up with another Final Edition, or Theatrical.

I guess the next step is to start the process all over again, but for 2160p HEVC this time.

You're not missing anything. As with most "cult" movies, it's actually pretty poor.

Must admit I really liked this movie, one of my favourites - it certainly was ground breaking at the time when it first came out. I've watched it a few times and still enjoy it - especially the ending which is quite poetic.

I suppose it all depends what you want out of movies - if CGI and big explosions is the measure, then I suppose it comes up short, but as interesting story - I liked it. Definitely worth seeing IMO.

Took repeated watchings, but I can pretty much say that Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 are my top two favourite movies. They grow on you, and you begin to appreciate the process of the film making, cinematography and sound. The sequel actually even improves on the original.

The story is like a snap shot in time, and yes - it's a very simplistic story. The key to the film making is in how this stimulates your imagination and desire for more.

Have both of them in 4K... and my family look at me with disgust in how much I talk about them.

Still recall finding the trailer for the PC game on my Red Alert CD as a kid and being mesmerized. Only later saw the film which was great.

Must admit I'm still making up my mind about the sequel.

Make no mistake, it was a good movie and worth watching. And some stunning visuals.

But it was a bit long, verging on becoming self indulgent IMO. It needs tightening up with some ruthless editing IMO.

But it was a worthy successor that contributed to the story positively IMO.

The game is great.
I actually enjoy the game a lot more than the movie.

Also watched the movie after playing the game.
In comparison I found the movie pretty meh

Game was pretty good, watched the movie theatrical release on old VHS, than played the game. Come to think of it, haven't watched it in 20 odd years.
