@josh, try and get the car valued, but the R450k offer seems to be pretty damn good in terms of what I can see out in the real world. Be wary of listening to any of saturnz valuations, he wanted to sell a POS Opel Monza for R40k (or even more), when at best its worth R15k. Just a heads up.

The thing was doing 100kmph in 2nd the other day, it's firing on all cylinders. Having said that, I'm no professional and would just like to find out the value of the thing. You could be right though, the buyer would have to give it a good test

Go to the nearest Porsche Dealership, get a valuation on the thing, contact the insurance company as well and get a valuation... I'm going to guess between R250k and R300k is where that number will end up.

R450k sounds a lot irrespective of milage. Think R450k is way more than he paid in 1986.

The buyer wont get finance - hence if cash, grab and run................

Check out CAR magazine in back section - normally have Porsche ads.

Look, while I agree with you that it probably pretty easy to change the odometer mileage, I dont think you will fool an expert when he/she is actually inspecting the car.

I saw a 2000 model E46 BMW the other day with 10 000km on the clock and when you start looking at the engine its pretty easy to see that the car does look brand new (and I am by no means an expert).

I would be very concerned about the Carrera's service history? With only 2000km on the clock did the owner service the car every year, or is it still on the original oil etc since 1986?
 
Sell it for scrap metal. Pretty sure that car wasn't Car of the Year in 1986, hence, it's worthless.
 
At an estimate I'd say this car is worth about half of a COTY 1991 Monza GSi.

Hi saturnz, have you driven from CT to JHB and back with the aircon on literally any time recently?

Dude, he didn't even want to sell it at first. He wanted to just show it off for no reason taking up valuable floor space in a car dealership. For no reason whatsoever. Other than "historical significance" of course.

Wrong he had it in the classifieds. No one took interrest so he started a thread trying to push his POS.
