Hi guys, I need your help. Please tell me what can be wrong; Thursday my car battery which is only 16 months old, was flat, so I had a new one fitted. Friday the new battery was also flat; everything was dead. After jump starting, it was flat again after about one hour. The mileage is only 86,500 km:cry:

What do you think is wrong? I know nothing about cars.

Thanks a ton!

Get the alternator tested it charges the battery.

Jou alternator is bef(1k

Sent from my Galaxy S running darky's rom sent to me by little green robots from the future.

Check alternator - if that is not the problem then your car probably has an electrical short somewhere which is draining the battery while it stands.
Connecting an ampere meter in series to the battery while the vehicle is not running will show any unusual current drain.
Both problems can be fixed by an auto electrician.
Pray it's not a short in the engine harnass/wiring loom - those are freaking expensive to replace even on cheap vehicles.

Not enough details thought.

Listening to music through 2000W amps while parked tends to create a problem.
Loose wires on alternator was a problem I recently experienced, found only after I purchased a new battery because the other one was tested as "faulty"
Many starts (short trips) or prolonged cranking could be an issue
Check that the negative wire from battery to chassis and engine are still affixed
The alternator could be stuffed

Have the system tested at the place you purchased the battery or try battery centre. They could tell you the battery is stuffed, just to sell another, it happened to me. But you would know better.

Hi Guys,
Believe it or not; an Auto Electrician checked everything on my car and found nothing wrong. The Exide 651 battery was the problem so it was replaced with a 652 Tuesday afternoon and I have had no problems starting the car since. Alternator is in tip top condition. I am very happy now! Cheers
