1KG Bacon

So my local Pick n Pay (Observatory, Cape Town) used to stock 1kg bacon for the past 2-3months. It was ~R60 a pack (beats R25 for 250g)

Now it looks like they are not selling it anymore

Does anybody know where I can buy 1kg of bacon at similar prices around Southern Suburbs? Hell even if its not in Southern Suburbs I will like to know.

I'm sure I've also bought it a time or two at Checkers. Have you checked at your local Checkers? And a really long time ago I used to buy the 1kg packs at Fruit & Veg/ Food Lovers Market. Maybe check there too.

Don't buy bacon from PnP. Find a good butcher that can sort you out. Or even a good deli.

Eskort sell shoulder bacon in 1kg and I have seen PnP diced bacon for R55 (1kg also)

If you trust my judgement, then please do yourself a favour and order the smoked neck bacon from Frey's Food Brands. You have to order it through a distributor though. In JHB I order and collect from Blue Marine - they've got a Durban Branch as well.

It is some of the best bacon I have ever tasted. Ordinary store bacon pales in comparison, and it is dirt cheap too...

And no I have not ordered from them yet.
