Hey guys,

I would like to know if anyone uses the 1MB telkom ADSL line to play online PC games? I want to play BF3 and COD MW3, but have no experience with ADSL. I am not too worried about dowload speeds, but latency in 64 player maps.

I will be purchasing the do advanced broadband bundle. I live in Northwold, Randburg.

Thanks guys

1MB adsl will be fine provided that you get a proper ADSL ISP with preferably a capped account. Uncapped accounts seam nice in principle but they generally provide bad gaming experiences.

I use to game forever on 384 and the only game I ever found which didn't work properly on 384kbps was Minecraft's multiplayer.

Just a question regarding the uncapped accounts... Do you think if you get unshaped uncapped that you will still experience bad latency?

Thanks guys, this will be a capped account, with 10GB int and 20GB local...

Dont let telkom be your isp rather get data from afri host :)

I am a proud afri gamer all the way no hassles stay in Bloem also with a 1mb line Battlefield 3 ping averages 11-17

I wanted to go Afrihost, but was advised to rather go with Telkom as all my buddies here have had issues with Afrihost before :(

You probably will not see significant latency on any adsl product if you are playing on a server hosted localy in ZA...even on a 384kb account. There is one caveat which some ISP's dont peer with Telkom which means that the rouer to servers from some account will be very roundabout. I think the main one (I stand to be corrected) is MWEB not peering with Telkom (coz Telkom are gits).

Thanks guys, I will provide feedback as soon as the line is up. Next week Tuesday :)
