1Password ditching passwords

1Password has announced its plans to roll out support for biometric passkey technology on its platform in the coming months.

The company says passkeys are easier to use, harder to steal or crack, and built on standards designed to make logging in faster and more secure.

Gonna have to start wearing chainmail gloves so that nobody chops off my fingers....

Hmm wonder what other body parts could be used as a backup to fingers and toes

Passwordless pretty much always relies on other trust factors before allowing access.

It’s a bit of a bullshit word as the password never really disappears, it just isn’t the first factor any more.

So you’d login to a device once with your password and 2FA etc and then that device becomes trusted. Now going forward you only need your 2FA (Biometric or Passkey etc) to login until you do something very hardcore then it will want your password again or at least another factor.

Change location suddenly like when travelling and it will want your password or another factor etc.
