1Time - Looks like it is finally over

Phew. I flew with them just two weeks ago. Have no more tickets booked, luckily.

Crazy, why does it happen so quickly as in they suddenly ground the flights etc.?

Oh fook...I'm supposed to be flying with them on Monday :erm: and again on the 12th of next month.
Now what?!

Well when you are in financial trouble you try and keep quiet, it tends to chase the customers and investors away.

The one article says that they were under financial curatorship for the last few months.

Blame the government and their continual bailing out of SAA!

100% agreed. With the SAA constantly being bailed out (which also runs subsidiaries such as Mango - direct opposition), I blame government for this. How many jobs are going to be unnecessarily lost in the process. Indirectly there will be impact to others too. It's abominable and abysmal!

This is sad :(

I loved flying with 1Time!

I'm sure a new operator will soon take to the sky.

I'm going to miss 1time. They had the best leg space and where never late!

I wonder how I can get my money back! You think I should just ask the bank to refund my credit card?

Remember, if you pay for any goods or services with your credit card, if you do not receive them, either in full or in part, you can apply to the bank that issued your credit card for “chargeback”.

Essentially, your payment is reversed if your application is successful.

So, if you make an internet purchase with your credit card and the item doesn’t arrive, it’s not what you ordered or it’s defective, and the seller won’t refund you, you can apply to your bank for chargeback.

The same applies to any purchase made with your credit card.

But there’s relatively little consumer awareness of chargeback in this country, which is why I keep doing my bit to alert readers to this very useful consumer protection.

It certainly makes having to pay that annual card fee a little more palatable.

Jenny Williams, of Pretoria, wrote to me early last month about her failure to get a refund of her R1 200 ticket from Velvet Sky. I advised her to apply for chargeback from Nedbank, which issued her card, and she recently wrote back with good news.

“The bank has credited me with R1 200, the full amount I paid for that Velvet Sky flight… thank you for your chargeback advice, which has provided such a welcome outcome,” said Williams.

Each bank has varying procedures and timelines for chargeback applications. If at first you encounter a bank staffer who is vague or unhelpful in this regard, insist on speaking to a person in authority in the bank’s disputes department

Yes, you can apply for charge back at your bank if you payed by credit card. You will have to provide proof that you didn't receive what you payed for. Not sure if this can be done before your boarding date though.
Regarding charge back, Consumer Watch by Wendy Knowler had an article about this earlier this year.

I found out.

If you paid with a credit card just call your bank nad ask for a charge back.
