1time plane suffers engine failure

You miss the point.

Nothing wrong in flying cheap, but if you know that an airline has had a number of technical issues, you think twice.

Did Nationwide have only that one engine failure (falling off) or was there other incidents also that I cant recall now? If it was only that one incident, then it is scary how a Airline can go down in flames because of one incident. I still think it is a pity that we lost a international carrier...well, to London at least to give some competition to SAA. Oh well. bleh.

Dude i reckon nationwide had more problems and i also think it was more than just a whoops the engine fell off :D.

Engines don't just fall off, i can understand an engine blowing or something going wrong inside the engine but the engine falling is just . O ya now i remember what those extra bolts were for :D.

Bluno i can assure you the top top airlines have had more than a few technical issues in their time. You actually have more chance dying on our roads everyday than you have of dying via planes.

So when you get in your car today i hope you realize at any moment a bus could slam into your car and mutilate you beyond recognition because that is more likely to happen :D.

I fly a lot killa, so I understand the safety issue of it. It is much safer than road travel, but if something goes wrong with a plane, your chances of dying are much higher than with road travel.

Well, I for one am pretty confident in all our airlines still. We have not had a major accident since the Helderberg disaster. :-)

And that was no mere accident ;)

Ja....that was pretty dodge hey. I was too young to remember it, but my mom and sister was telling me how shocking it was to hear the news that a Flying Springbok have gone down. Up untill then South Africa never had such a big air disaster I think....and what made it worse I guess was that it was and still is shrowded in secracy.

No it is pretty clear what happened and it is out there in the open.

The only thing that is shrouded in secrecy was the government's failure to investigate properly.

Wow i would also be frightened of flying with our poor record :D.
Once when I flew with 1Time, my seat was relatively at the back close to the engine. As we were sitting on the run way waiting for our turn to take off, the engine was making a funny noise. Like a tyre with a flat spot on it. It did make me feel very uneasy, but all was ok and appart from that funny noise the flight was smooth. I guess the engines are old and they aint gonna be as quiet as the CFM engines on the 737's with newer tech etc built into them. Or maybe the blades just needed to be rebalanced! lol

haha, some people wold never fly again if they knew what really happens. There are Go/No go lists that determine critical aspects of the plane that must be functional. there are some very interesting things on there !

I saw hydraulic (or I thought it was) fluid being blown over the engine cowling of a a 737 at 30 000 odd feet before.
