2.1/3.1 Pc Speakers - still a thing?

So my logitech Z533 stopped working, the nob simply doesn't switch on any more and I've tried going the soldering way where you reconnect the two pins.

Now growing up with creative speakers... I don't see any brands that inspire to get new ones. There is microlab but they sure doesn't look or sound (reviews) like a good option. I could import a decent set of logitech that doesn't feature the turning knop or klipsch, but I really do not want to put down 4k on just another set of pc desktop speakers.

If it isn't microlab, astrum, volkano then there is omega? lol?

It doesn't seem if Create SBS is going to make a return. I suppose I could just go the "4k headset" route, again.
 
Yep, 1941 phoned and wants their lifestyle and goods pricing back, welcome to 2015+ .. If you want the same quality.. bend over boet. Otherwise settle for "ok" quality at cheap prices like sandstrom brand or and other entry/midrange brand

The 533s are still available. They do also make cheaper or more expensive PC speakers.
I suggest waiting for black Friday and getting something from Edifier. I'm very happy with the BT1700. I see they are actually now 30% off and cheaper than what I paid for them last year.

Depends on the Microlabs, they aren't too bad I've got 3 in the house, the following is the best one

also if you do go the soundbar route, just remember the distance you sit from it to your ears can play a massive role so don't go to big.

Interesting, i have a set of Z533 for my PC, feels wrong to chuck a nice set like this for something like the knob, do you have pics of the issue? why does soldering not work ?

What happens is that one day you turn the knob and it stops working, it just doesn't switch on. Then what you can do is after you've carefully opened it, looking at the PCB, there is two points you can connect which "solves" this issue. When I tested it with a paper clip it did turn on as expected, however, I suppose you can short it, it doesn't any more. So That is the state of it. You turn the knob and nothing. This is exactly what happened with my previous set and why I really do not want to go and get another Z533 as this is a known issue.

And it is kinda silly to spend twice about 1.5k on it having to fail exactly in the same way.

Nope I've had a soundbar for PC, it's not what you need, you're too close firstly as you need to be further away to benefit from the soundbar. Put the sound bar in the bedroom and it works nicely, on my PC sounded horrible

Interesting, thanks for the details, hope mine doesn't die, i enjoy the sound from the set. beats my 5.1 z506 which i use in the lounge media center.

Fortunately, I don't drink beer!
There's a crispness in the sound that you didn't even know existed until you listen to a good set like this. What is rather painful, my 1 year old smacked one speaker off the table and it cracked slightly.

I've got a set of Inspire 5300 5.1 speakers sitting in a cupboard that haven't been used in years.
