Hello All,

I was hoping you could provide me with some assistance, with regards to the following situation:

I would like to send still photo images from my office to my home using a 2.4Ghz transmitter. The distance is +/- 10km (no line of sight).

My question is:

a) Would i be able to purchase a transmitter like this? and where i S.A could i get one?

b) And what prevents others(people with receivers) receiving my images. How is the signal sent from my transmitter made recognizable by my receiver?

Many Thanks,
Regards,
Reinier

Depends on what is in the way ... a mountain? Trees etc etc

Never seen one, but I have 50mWatt wifi links running over 19KM (good antennas, NOT high power)

Nothing will stop others from receiving it - if you want to use one of those Elsat Video senders, then everyone can see it. Otherwise do a wifi link and use something like ZoneMinder.

The Video senders are really crude, and flood the spectrum with rubbish.

I have long range transmitters....

Contact me 0113210333. Iain Smith

Product = StraightCore www.straightcore.net

We are the local (Africa) importers and distributers.

Could also use 802.11a (5GHz) instead of 802.11b/g (2.4GHz).
It would be safer from prying eyes as well as the security features available on the unit.

Reinier - Make sure whatever wifi equipment you get is ICASA approved
