2.5" drive in a 3.5" enclosure

Is there anything to look out for if I want to use a 2.5" sata drive in a larger enclosure?
 
You need a kit? My drive just plugged into it but since we're without power today I've yet to test it.

I know I needed an adaptor when I was doing the same thing with ide drives but as I mentioned these are sata

Bwana, should be fine, but don't quote me on that, its the same interface.
 
Thanks all - power has been restored and its working. It will be nice to rid myself if the old 120gb 5400rpm hdd and replace it with a 7200rpm 250gb. :)
 
Bit off topic but has anybody tested the new esata connector that comes with the new external casings.

It's suppose to be 3x times faster then firewire.

True, and it works great, but still need usb to make it mobile, unless the other pc/laptop also has esata.
 
I'd almost forgotten how slow USB is :(

Next step is to find a FW800 enclosure for the old 120gb drive.
 
My laptop only has fw800.even 400 would be an improvement.
