Does anyone have a 2.5" to 3.5" ATA converter that they wouldn't mind giving or selling to me?

I have an ATA 2.5" laptop hard drive, and I desperately need some way to get the data off... I don't have a suitable laptop available to plug it into. An external enclosure would also do the trick.

just keep in mind, you cannot plug a 2.5" IDE laptop drive into a desktop PC, the IDE connectors are different.

Your best bet is to take the drive to a Computer store and ask for a 2.5" IDE-to-USB casing. That way you got a nice USB powered portable drive and get your data off

Agree - you can pick the cases up for R100 - R150 and then you can use it as external storage. I did this for a friend whos lappie went.

I use to have an internal adapter for IDE but threw it away after I blew a hard drive. Very easy on these adapters.

Hop in the car and pick one up in PE. They're not expensive.

If an external solution would also work for you, then you might want to look at something like the following: MUKii TIP-Q120U2SI (2.5"/3.5" IDE/SATA to USB 2.0 for ~R200.
There is also one available in USB 3.0, but I got the USB 2.0 one simply for diagnostics and because it was cheaper too
