Well, after watching the video the mother should've told the cops what was going on instead of nonchalantly walking out and mumbling ''bipolar schizo''. She could have and should have stood at the door and told the cops what was going.

I concur. It seems she aggravated the situation more as well. She should have been by her son's side and spoken to the cops.

Cops have so many non-lethal options, tasers, pepper spray, bean bag rounds.

But no, lets kill him first.

They don't always work, especially if the suspect is highly agitated (adrenaline) or is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

I can count 2 tasers being used on this guy and and he still fights back.

Does anyone know what the outcome of the investigation was to this incident?

I am on the fence. While I agree different methods of approaching the situation could have helped, I think the cops reacted out of pure instinct.

She indicated that he was mentally ill on the 911 call apparently.

Eek

I am loose in the USA next week and in Dallas in September .....

At least I know in SA the cops cant shoot straight, and a back hander stops the violence ......

Guess I will be leaving my favourite screwdriver set at home then ....

But her conduct at the scene was not what one would expect from a concerned mother. She still had the ability to control the interaction between her son and the cops. Instead she opened the door, mumbled something in an almost disinterested manner and walked off.

I'd have stood at the door and told the officers what the deal was. Something to the effect of; ''My son is going through a manic or whatever episode, he is agitated and not listening to me and he is wielding a screwdriver.''

Cops generally listen to the first calm person they come across at a call to better understand what is going on. You must understand that they also need to ensure their own safety before charging in. The mother practically wiped her arse off on her son and left an agitated, and possibly violent, mentally ill person to deal with two armed police officers.

I doubt they were planning on him lunging at them.

Are you a troll or a cop...is this why you back the coward.

What the cop did was cowardly, as you can see from after the guy had bullets in him and totally disabled, he still aimed his gun instead of disarming and rendering assistance.

So here you have him already with the knowledge that guy has mental issues, plus he is prone, bleeding and motionless...yet he aims for minutes.

What a coward !!

Then a link would be nice.

I must give you a link?

Just because it's public record does not mean they upload everything to the internet, you have to fill in forms and request it in most cases.

I'd like to have access to all the information to make an informed decision. The word of an attorney, is far from an accurate source of information.
