hey hey.. soon getting 20 or 30 Gb shaped account with WA, for normal work/study/DL crap, however would like to get an additional 1Gb Unshaped (and additional prepaid if needed) for gaming, mainly wow.

would it be possible for the desktop pc to be logged into the gaming account while the girlfriends laptop is logged into the shaped account... with one router and one line?

also this all depends on what WA shaped latency is like, so feedback welcome on that too..

cheers guys

Yes, if you dial the 1 account through he router, you can manually dial up the Unspahed account using PPPOE dialer in windows, just remember that if she is using the new, even for browsing while you are playing your latency will be negatively affected as even with 2 accounts, you still only have 1 line.

1: WA is your best for international gaming here in SA, normal shaped WA
You really don't need another 1gb

I use WA shaped with a proxy. (look for the proxy thread by avert on this forum) and I get stable 230ms.

2: Depends on the router you have. But most allow PPPOE from windows while connected. Some Netgear models & some other makes usually don't by default, but you can change its mode or do a firmware upgrade.
On a 4MB acct normal internet activity won't really have an effect on your wow. DLing etc will.

so how does one do this?

- As I said above, depends on your router if you can do it. Let me know your make...
- Depends, step by step? What Windows do you have?
- Generally +- ? Network Connections -> Create new connection -> PPPOE

thanks for replies.. ill stick to the shaped account anyway and see how it goes... yeh my gf does DL loads sometimes, maybe i will have to boot her when i enter WSG ;) laggy pvp gives me a rash and turns me into a bad person..

although you could prob shape one of the ports on the router no? (bit devious i know...)

On a normal ADSL rounter nope you can't. By running something more advanced, yes (but then we talking microtik, cisco or shiz like that).

Its quite simple, do what most of us do. DL time is during the night & during they day when we work etc. Not when you game. :)

Most Billion routers can be dialled up and accept multiple PPPoE connections at the same time. I'd highly recommend them.

That function is not limited to billion, about 90%-95% of routers are capable of doing that, its a function called bridge mode. As long as it a network router with at least 2 lan ports there is an extremely good chance it supports bridge made, especially if it was made in the last 4 years. As long as you can switch your router to bridge mode you can dial up as many accounts as you want to.

I think he was walking about half-bridge mode and not regular bridge mode. aka router dials up default account, and if you need to user another account you can dial that up from your pc without having the modem drop the normal account it uses.
