Here's a message to the 2 idiots in Maserati's dicing down William Nicol around 22:00 last night

You put other people lives at risk with your behaviour, I hope both your expensive little toys end up as a pile of expensive scrap very soon.

/rant off

if anyone on myBB knows of someone in the Sandton area with a white or a black Maserati who may be one of these idiots please pass on the message

Late at night I can hear the street racing taking place on the highway about 2km from my house. It has been going on for years, but the cops do nothing. I went there one morning at about 2.00am and there was quite a crowd. Phoned the local SAPS and they said they had no vans...

Lol, and I thought the SAPS had that special unit made to specifically clamp down on street racing and the like :D.

IIRC, two guys racing their Lamborghini and Ultima's had an off on the Nichol a couple of years ago... The guy in the Ultima burned to death.
Book a track day boys, 'tho I'm guessing these chops are only okay flooring it in a straight line.

Was the kid in the Lambo who burned to death in his car iirc...

I actually drove past that just after it had happened, the car was still burning...

these chops last night were dicing through the traffic cutting in and out in front of people

Videotape some racing and their number plates and send copies to all the major insurance companies. I know that the insurance companies send "bloody agents" to mingle amongst the idiots at Link Road in Montague Gardens.

Yes. There was a guy that burnt in a Lambo in Durban too iirc. More recent...

Supercars + Idiot Drivers = Tragic Consequences

The Witkoppen incident was down to incredibly bad fog though. We have a tendency to pass blame on to drivers in powerful cars the moment we hear about it, often unfairly...

Ah, ok. Then I'm thinking of another incident where a Lambo driver (youngster) was also burned to death in his Lambo but iirc it happened on Witkoppen...

EDIT: here it is - http://www.wheels24.co.za/News/General_News/Lambo-driver-22-in-horror-crash-20080714

Just read this article and the comments. Seems like news24 didn't get the story right the first two times. Shouldn't reporters report facts and not speculation. Good on them for not changing the original article and pointing out the corrections though.

Well if he was racing a supercar in incredibly bad fog that would place him alongside Julius and Floyd on the stupidity scale

According to the Wheels24 story that you linked to, he came around a bend at speed and crashed into another car.

Yes it didn't say anything about fog. But then again they did get some other details wrong as well.

Go to the original thread on this forum. 4 die in fatal crash or something along those lines. Not sure why you and the vast majority of people have this tendency to assume that he was racing. The journalists involved in this particular incident decided to ignore the fact-checking aspect of their job before publishing...

Yeah, the journalists made plenty of assumptions. There were no witnesses and the accident investigators put it down to the fog, not speed or reckless driving. I'll take their word over the knee-jerk journalists who trod this poor kid's name and his family through the mud...

"From evidence found on the scene the Lamborghini came at a very high speed, the driver lost control and left the lane he was travelling in and veered into the lane the Golf was travelling in. The impact was very high. That is why both vehicles burst into flames. It was horrific," said Mamonyane.

Robbie Mthombeni, Top Security area manager, said there was thick mist on the morning of the accident, and vehicle tracking records indicated that Ncube was travelling at 40km/h and Scott about 220km/h when their vehicles collided.

Don't know about you but I find it hard to believe the person was riding under the speed limit. Everything seems to suggest otherwise.

I know. News24... They are a useless bunch. I was just stating what the report said.
