2 monitors, 1 computer, 2 display areas, what do I need?

Any dual-display graphics card will do it. As mentioned, just make sure your monitors have video inputs compatible with the PC's video outputs.

You can even get a video adapter that connects to your PC's USB (2+) port and outputs video for the big screen.

For what it's worth, my desktop has 5 monitors. All the apps but one (VoIP client) open on their defined displays. Different .xls files is not an issue.

Btw, you can't open two instances of the same Excel workbook on the same desktop. Different .xls files open at the same time are not an issue.

For a TV I recommend a Raspberry Pi3 - it is just so easy and straight forward to use. If you need something a bit more powerful then AM1 is the right platform.
 
Neither can I. Never used this Excel thing you talk about and I am sure if I ever did I would never do it on my TV because somehow it does not really sound very entertaining.

You need more FUN spreadsheets. I have a two-hour review of spreadsheets from 9-11 today. Such fun! Should be on TV.

(Maybe you missed that the OP wants to display an Excel spreadsheet on his TV.)
