So afrihost ( via openserve ) installed my fibre.

They left me with 2 routers, one fibre router with no wifi and another which is a wifi router im suppose to plug into the fibre?

Afrihost says it is "economically not viabke to have one router that is a fibre router with wifi"

To me this sounds like a load of zuma!
Or am I missing something?
Now i have to have two routers plugged in?

Doesnt sound right you can pick up a WAN router for like R600. semi decent quality aswell such as the Dlink DIR-816

In most cases the 1st router only converts the fibre to RJ45 that can connect to your broadband/WAN router.

So... now where and how do i enter fibre username and password... then hiw do i connect the wifi netgear router ( that is linked to fibre router via rj45) to see the internet access?

ONT is not a "Router" but more of a converter.

Then you get the CPE which in many cases is a Router.

Sometimes they install it as a single unit, but in most of those cases you'd probably want your own Router hanging off it anyway so you can actually do what you want with it.

Depends.

Some providers you can't enter it at all and it gets entered for you. Others you would enter it on the Router (Wifi device in your case).

The ONT you'll never need to access or make any changes to.

So I have a 8 port CPE does this mean I can connect multiple devices to it - I was under the impress its to convert fibre to LAN. I guess DCHP would be a problem

Vumatel install the Raycore 8 Port CPE which can do DHCP and much more but you shouldn't connect anything to it except for your router with has a firewall.

All depends on how it was configured by the provider.

If it's an all-in-one ONT/CPE the odds are they want you to attach your own router to it on a single pre-configured port.

Best way to know is to talk to whoever provided it. Often they are MAC address locked to the first device attached to it.
