Hi all

I need some help please.
I have been using my Dlink DSL-2540U router setup with a bridge connection and a PPPOE connection for many months now, all has been working fine up until a couple of days ago when I was no longer able to dial in from my computer or any computer connected on my network using the bridge connection on my router. All it does now is get stuck at Verifying username and password and will remain there indefinitely.
My PPPOE setup on my router stopped working as well but after phoning telkom they "reset" my port and it connected again, but my bridge connection still does not connect :-(

Is it possible that there might be something wrong with my line or the exchange and if so how do I get someone from telkom out to check it..? I don't think they will be to bothered if I tell them I'm not able to connect using my router as a modem.

I still want to test it with another router but will have to ask my friend so I can use his.

Thanks

If your router can dial a connection, then I would assume its a setting or issue on the router. I would do a factory reset and reconfigure the router.

It seems to have been the following setting: Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports. With this enabled I was unable to use the router in bridge mode. :D

...if you follow mrudling's advice and still unable to utilise 2nd PPPOE connection, contact Telkom and request a port move in the exchange citing poor connection.
