Hi guys,

I am lloking to get myself a nice 20" screen, preferable wide. I know that the Dell 2007 WFP is a good choice, but it is quite pricey. I was wondering if anybody has experience with the Dell E207WFP, and know how good/bad it is.

Also looking at other makes, so if you guys have any suggestions, please feel free to share

Cheers,
Mike

mmm, yeah they are avaliable, but:

1) they quite expensive
2) I watch lots of movies on my pc, so a widescreen monitor would be awesome...

I have heard some bad things about both widescreen dells, but that was a while back, and has apparently all been sorted out with revision 2 of the panels. Any other suggestions, hopefully in the price range of the E207WFP...

just dont forget the response time.. i have a 19" LG Flatron Slim LCD Monitor for my PC with 8 ms response time and have experience no problems in games or in movies...

just dont go any higher than 8 ms :D if you do, "ghosting" may take place where images get stuck etc cos the image cant be refereshed quick enough..or something like that :P im sure ur aware of it though..looks something like that

remember, the LCD monitor may look nice, but take the response time into account!!! :p

I have 20" Apple Cinema Display. Absolutely loving it

and how much was it?

I really love the look but im afraid the 14/16 ms response time is a bit much for me...cant play all the fast-paced latest games on that with that kinda response time..

thats why it really depends on what you using it for

but its a beautiful screen :P

The apple can be as good as the hottest chick on the planet, but i still wouldnt buy it at the price it is sold for here, not to mention that it would totally not fit in with the rest of my setup... all black/silver... ;)

Issues to consider are:

- response time, mostly for gaming and movies. 8ms and lower is fine generally

- Brightness (luminance), for image quality. 250cd/m2 is average, so 300 and above is good

- Contrast ratio, also for image quality. 500:1 is average and higher is better. In truth, one should be looking for the "static contrast ratio", instead of "dynamic contrast", but most companies wouldn't provide such detail.

Lastly, the vertical and horizontal viewing angles are important too. Anything less than 120-degrees is going to irritate you, as the colours and brightness seem to change as your head moves.
