I've watched an hour of this movie so far and I'm seriously bored. What's so great about it? The ambiguity? The visuals?
Do you have to be of a certain mind/personality to enjoy it?

You need to read the books first.

The plot part I don't mind I think it's one of those "open to interpretation" types of movies but goddamn everything is so dragged out.

Watching movies at 16:20 on a Tuesday afternoon?
You're too bored for that kinda movie.

The ~70's movies aren't everyone's cup of tea, most people find them extremely slow and boring, this and The Godfather are prime examples a lot of younger people find boring.

Filmed mid 60's. The foresight of Kubrick is undeniable. Some of those camera angles. The cinematography for the period was considered advanced.

You need to be a Kubrick fan.

Space Odyssey is a movie that I find only works when you smoke DURING the movie.

Pop it in, roll your blunt while the boring **** rolls by then go to space along with them.

Besides the cinematography, camera work and music does it have anything else going for it?

This is the cr@p they're always feeding us about the "old classics".
Go watch Citizen Kane. Supposedly the greatest thing put on film. The "standard bearer". With film techniques "so far advanced and still copied to this day"

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

If you find it, let me know. F dancing ships, long boring beginning, wtf ending that is also overly long. The movie can trim an hour and still feel long.

You enjoy The Fast and the Furious franchise right?

Nothing

Hate it.

Not all golden oldies are bad in my book. Exorcist, The French Connection, Bullit, The Searchers, Some Like it Hot, and others.
I can watch those. Most definitely.

Everything.

Nothing like it, just let your mind wonder and read the books eventually.
