2001 A Space Odyssey

If you find it, let me know. F dancing ships, long boring beginning, wtf ending that is also overly long. The movie can trim an hour and still feel long.
Maybe it's like an art thing where you stare into a painting of a box and get lost within your own mind? Never understood that sort of thing so I'll give this movie a hard skip and advise my friends against it.

Perhaps, or maybe Kubrick was overrated, sure Apocalypse now had some amazing scenes, but it was also looong

Then you should probably not watch Casablanca or Psycho

Ranks next to Gone with the Wind on the boredom scale.

Speaking of GwtW,

Olivia de Havilland is 100 years young this year, and still going strong. They don't make 'em like they used to! :p

2001 is one of my favourite movies. It wasn't when I watched it the first time in the 70's, but I watched it again a few years back and gave it a 9/10.

Everyone can't like the same thing I guess.

Have you seen Strangers On A Train?
/Casablanca is really good though

This, Casablanca was so much better than I thought it would be - I get how 2001 is very much about taste but Casablanca is just a great movie.

Edit- 2001 is awesome- even though Kubrick and Clarke disagreed about the ambiguity in the movie- the book explains it much better... but some people enjoy it for the mystery.

Hitchcock's stuff in the 50's/60's was damn good. Psycho being amongst those. They still hold up.
Only my opinion, but can't compare that to this 2001 Space Odyssey cr@pathon.

Philistine  I kid - but Google an analysis if the significance of the chess game to see how much thought went into it...

A must see for any Vintage/ Cult Classic movie aficionados

No. I've only watched a few of +50's movies. Is it good though? I'll add Casablanca to my list since you recommend it.

For its time one of the best Classics ever. Promise you would not be disappointed
