2007/2008 Fa Cup Thread

nope it really happened nivek :)

dont worry man arsenal had one of the weakest team fielded in the prem league yesterday due to injury

so dont worry about it, concentrate on champs and league now

Yep.. think Wenger was holding quite a few key players back for Wed anyway.. Sagna, Clichy, Flamini and Ade have been the most consistent the whole season..

Evra was impressive last night, hes got great control

I wish Eboue got lost in Ghana..

If I were Wenger or Fergie I would have started with my best team availble. Then, in the 2nd half you can always take key players off to give them a rest.

The fact that Ronaldo wasn't even ion the squad when he clearly said was wanted to play was a pathetic decision. These players aren't kids or pensioners - this is what they do for a job. I am sure they can cope with two games in 4 days.

Arsenal had travelled to Manchester on Friday without nine players but, more tellingly, with a further three carrying injuries.

In the end the entire trio - Philippe Senderos (knee), Gael Clichy (hamstring) and Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring) - started on the bench.

The full injured list was as follows as: Johan Djourou (groin), Robin van Persie (thigh), Abou Diaby (calf), Manuel Almunia (sick), Denilson (hamstring), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), Theo Walcott (thigh), Alex Song (muscular) and Bacary Sagna (personal reasons).

It meant the side that Wenger named was pretty much his full compliment of fit players.

That pretty much sums it up (again). :)

Coping with two games in four days isn't the issue. It's pretty clear he didn't want to risk an injury to his star player ahead of the Champions League game this week.

That is also not good enough. That is why we have a squad - if someone gets injured we are meant to be able to replace him with someone good off the bench.

Thing is, that when we won the Treble in 99 we always had really good players that could come in so the 1st team could rest. Take out Yorke and Cole and bring in Solskjaer and Sheringham. In the midfield we had Butt to replace Scholes or Keane, or even Jesper Blomqvist.

This time around I just don't feel as confident bringing on the 2nd choice players as they don't seem to be in the same league just yet.

Nani has shown promise - but it is high time he started playing like he did yesterday on a regular basis. The same goes for Anderson.

Fletcher, for me, will never play like he did yesterday ever again and should be sold asap.

Park certainly is energetic, but he seems to contribute very little, especially going forward where he wastes great opportunities in the box and his final ball is always a let down.

Wes Brown on the right is no replacement for Neville G- the sooner he comes back to full fitness the better.

Luis Saha, in the 10 minutes a month when he is not injured is not terrible, but he isn't great and is always injured.

Also, why has no one, especially Arsenal fans, mentioned Nani's showboating and ball-juggling towards the end of the game?? I thought it was great. You could see the Arse players haaating it :)

Mr Wenger was not amused though :)

With all that money you'd think Manure would be able to have a decent pitch :o

alan that pitch was fine man

arsenal just sucked, no point blaming the pitch

have the pitch been matter maybe rooney would have hit a hatrick and sent arsenal down 7-0

hj i think alex ferguson knew half of arsenal's defence was missing and their main goal scorer so why risk ronaldo and tevez for an easy game?

he knew before we did

he called it really well and going into the champs league all his stars are fit to play

I guess so. Just seemed to be a big gamble really. If Arsenal had played like they had been in the last few weeks and our 2nd string had played like they normally do, the scores could easily have been reversed

hj arsenal are exactly like they where with henry

remove adebayor from the attack and they have no teeth

the goals he scores alot of the time are purely what he made not what was setup

not really hj i think ferguson should ask himself if his full team could have beaten that arsenal side 4-0 and i dont think they would have not by 4-0

i think if they can get sagna back and keep adebayor fit they will but i have a funny feeling arsenal's season is about to collapse

their defense is nothing short of shocking, fabresgas should go and play in the league one championship i dont know whats happened to him but the first of the season he was a legend now you dont see him

That is true. He was absolutely nowhere in that game. But the same can be said for most of the team!
