come on did you okes actually think it was going to be good

i normally watch the big games at my dad's place to spend time with him but i told him that i would not watch that game if i was paid to :)

watching liverpool is just not something i do anymore along with chelsea

Someone said that Chelsea were more bothered about not losing their undefeated home record than actually winning the game.

Pain From A Name: Beckhams' Torment

Tadhg Enright
In Belfast Updated:09:18, Wednesday February 13, 2008

A couple who've changed their name to David and Victoria Beckham claim their lives have been made a misery as a result.

David and Victoria BeckhamThe pair say they've become prisoners in their own home - but its not the paparazzi that are keeping them holed up in their very own Beckingham Palace.

Their tormentors are teenage thugs, who have been attacking the property in west Belfast, Northern Ireland.

David said of the yob abuse: "It's been going on for the past couple of years. They were coming around and throwing eggs and stones at windows."

But last month, the anti-social behaviour became more sinister when thugs smashed their sitting-room window in the early hours of the morning.

"A big ball of ice came through the window," said David. "They must have made it. It was like a football".

Victoria had been making a cup of tea in the kitchen at the time and David says the outcome could have been worse if she'd been in the front room at the time.

He added: "She could have been hurt. It could have hit her in the head and knocked her out."

The Beckhams reported the incident to the police and the housing executive.

The couple's front windows have now been boarded up and David has installed CCTV cameras to keep their tormentors at bay.

Pair changed name to match heroesThe pair have become well known across Northern Ireland since they changed their names by deed-poll in 2003.

But they don't believe they're being targeted because of their celebrity status or their allegiance to Manchester United.

Sadly for them, it has upset plans they had to visit the Beckhams' old stomping ground.

"We were supposed to go to Old Trafford, but we can't get away because the boarding is still up and we're still waiting for new glass," said David.

David and Victoria are so afraid they'll be attacked again, they say that once their windows are fixed, the wooden boarding will be going back up at their home, which bears a "Beckingham Palace" name-plate.

"I hate not being able to see outside but I don't think we have any other choice," said Victoria. "I would just be waiting for the windows to be smashed again."

Arsene Wenger is down to the 'bare bones' as his squad prepare for the FA Cup tie at Old Trafford.

Wenger is taking all his fit players to Manchester and will have to wait until the morning before deciding who is fit enough to face the champions.

Gael Clichy, Emmanuel Adebayor, Mathieu Flamini and Philippe Senderos are struggling with knocks but will travel.

"We have a few players on the edge," said the Gunners boss.

"We are down to the bare bones. We have just 14 players and everyone will travel then I will make a decision.

"Clichy, Senderos, Adebayor, Flamini - all are muscular injuries. I will have to take a look and see who is in the most dangerous position."

Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue have returned from African Nations Cup duty and Wenger has confirmed that Jens Lehmann will play in net.

"He is the keeper in the FA Cup, that has been decided."

Opposing manager Alex Ferguson on the other hand believes he has the strongest squad he has had available for some time. However, the Scotsman will be making changes with one eye on the midweek Champions League tie with Lyon.

"I don't think either side will play the team that everyone expects. We'll make a couple of changes. My view is that with massive games like Arsenal and then Lyon on Wednesday, you have to give a lot of consideration to how you balance your teams. Hopefully I get it right."

Louis Saha will be available for the match after recovering from a knee injury picked up a month ago in training.

"Louis has trained all week and should be involved," said Ferguson.

"We have a strong squad for Saturday, probably the strongest for a while."

I am feeling good about this again :)

Arsenal had a shocker!
The frustration was evident and some unnecessary an unprofessional conduct... I just hope Arsene Wenger doesn't let them off. As far as I am concerned, it's not about having a perfect team, but doing something about the loose cannons in the side. Frustration doesn't win games, thats for sure... Injuries aside, you still need to go down as sportsmen at the end of the game. Losing to a great team like Man United is not the end of the world, however close the rivalry. Anyhow, despite my whinge, I am just still so glad there are 5 points between Man United and Arsenal in the premiership... Anything can still hapen though...

Indeed. If they play like that in the premiership that 5 point lead is going to be gone in two games. They were really really bad. Even worse than United against City, and that was pretty bad!

hj arsenal where worse than newcastle when united played them

the score line flattered arsenal big time

if rooney had converted just four of his 7 clear cut chances it could have been a the biggest beating arsenal's has ever had

they played like that because they were disinterested in the game, Wenger said back in January that the FA cup is the last of his priorities this year..

They have a big game to play on Wednesday with only 14 first team members fit, the fact that they cant afford any new injuries was probably playing on their minds as well...

Wait till the league game at old trafford and you'll see a very different game.. They only played on Saturday because they had to..

I agree to some extent Nivek, but how can you not be interested in what your fans are... winning games. I guess it boils down to fitness of players and using what you have... hats off to wenge for making tactical decisions for the sake of the premiership if thats what he did, but hey, to a fan, it still feels like a beating, even if it were a charity game, I'd feel done in... the nature of the supporter I guess. But what disappointed me was the unprofessional conuct under pressure... it's time to root out what makes you look bad. Losing and looking OK is better than winning and looking like bad sportsmen. I do, however, have full faith that Wenge won't let it lie... He's way too professional for that.

yeah losing sucks, especially when its man utd, but you need to take a few things into consideration

there are currently 14 fit players, 13 games to go in the league including games against united/liverpool and chelsea.. there is a huge game this wednesday against AC Milan..

and the state of the pitch at old trafford (not an excuse) was shocking... it was a swamp.. it is so easy to pick up an injury in those conditions and ferguson probably had that in mind.. if any of fabregas/hleb/adebayor/flamini/sagna/clichy picked up an injury it could have been the end of arsenals season.. all for the sake of what, the fa cup? which was never a priority to begin with..
id much rather lose in the fa cup against united than pick up an injury and lose the league/champions league and get knocked out the fa cup at a later stage due to lack of first team players...

but yeah some of the behaviour of the players was shocking but losing isnt situations they're used to.. :)

Eboue needs to go hes always been worthless.. Flamini's tackle on Nani was justified imho, nani provoked it..

I'd love for them to do a poll, but imho, it won't change the fact that the FA Cup means more to an english fan than the CL Cup.

You all say it is ok that they got beaten and that the cup is not important. Go ask a true Englishman and he'll tell you different.

Eboue seems to be a favourite with Wenger though. :(

For the majority of the season, the team has been:

Almunia, Clichy, Toure, Gallas, Sagna, Hleb, Fabregas, Flamini, Eboue, Adebayor.

It's not good for Arsenal when Rosicky isn't fit. His creativity, along with Hleb is crucial. :)

well look there is getting beaten in a cup comp and then there is being embarrassed

i dont get what was wrong with the pitch, it seems to work well for united

i cannot believe arsenal where that poor because of the pitch

it does not matter though, what does matter is that arsenal put it behind them and concentrate on milan which i predict will knock them

milan are like liverpool, they love champs league more than everything else
