2007/2008 Premiership Footy Thread

What an awful match. Can someone please tell me HTF a team can play such crap soccer and still be 2nd on the log? WTF? Yeah I would've loved a Newcastle victory but my god they were as pathetic as Chelsea. The first goal - 3 defenders surrounding Michael Ballsack and not one of them thought of going for the ball. Pathetic. The 2nd goal - WTF did the keeper come out? There were 2 defenders nearly on him. Had the keeper waited, he would have saved the shot if he would've managed to take the shot. I think the defenders would've put too much pressure on him and he would've had to give the ball to another player. Pathetic Newcastle. Pathetic Chelsea. Chelsea do not deserve to win any trophies this year. They are poor. Man United won the most games in the league and are deserved, hopefully-soon-to-be champions.

Yeah, he never got much game time last season as Gilberto was on form.. The only reason Flamini got so many starts is because Gilberto was on national duty for the copa america a week or 2 into the start of the season, and he couldnt get his starting place back as Flamini was rock solid..

Before the season started though Flamini said he's going to stay and fight for his place instead, and that he did..
 
Its not how u win, its the fact that u win. They are far more entertaining lately, but you cant expect them to be at their best after 2 hectic games like Man U and Liverpool, both of those were good games.

Its down to the last weekend, what a season its been!

BTW, when was the last time, if ever, that the league was decided on goal difference?
 
@ Mercurial - same can be said for Man Untied. Losing to Bolton? LoL

Drawing Midddelsbrough? LoL
 
Do u think that goal difference is a good decider of the league? Why not adopt La Liga approach where if a team is equal on points, they look at the head to head clash to decide the winner.

Dude, Man United have been excellent all season. We, unlike Chelsea, don't play crap footy every week. You seem to forget the Middlesbrough beat Chelsea 3 - 0 not too long ago. You still have to play Bolton next week so I wouldn't be a smartass just yet :)

No. If you scored more goals, it means you played better. Don't try to get your gemors team a trophy when they don't deserve it :)
 
@ Mercurial - i dont support Chelsea.

You show you know nothing about football. you didnt even know that Cheslea has lost less games than Man United. So it would make Chelsea the most deserving team using your theory :d

Thats how Barca lost the league last year. Was miles ahead in goal difference but lost to Real Madrid in the head to head. Barca led whole season, and in the last few weeks got equal on points with Barca.

Madrid were crowned champions.
 
i prefer the goal difference rule because it makes teams go out and score goals

chelsea have drawn more games than united, drawing is as bad as losing

chelsea can draw 3 games and united just needs one win and can lose 2 games

same points

never look at who has lost the most, look at who has drawn because that where you lose the league

Well then Barca should have won there as well. It only goes to a head-to-head in the Prem if GD is equal AFAIK.
 
Since when does more goals mean the team played better?

Beating Derby 6 - 0 and so on, it doesn't mean jack. :)
 
No Barca shouldnt have won. It has always been like that. Makes it more exciting in the sense that you have to win your head to head battles or else it will come to bite you in the ass.

@ Killer - its all teams objective to go out and score goals.
 
Shame the Arsenals and Chelseas are sticking up for each other in this thread LOL shame. Your teams aren't good enough. Try next season.
 
look a result is a result and we all know chelsea have played crap football

winning 6-0 does mean you play more attractive football which is what fans want

united play nice football but at the same time have a good backline

i think united are the most complete football in the team in the league

defence is rock solid, midfield as well and attackin they are just genius
